so in my research of consideration for upgrading to Electric downriggers I have noticed that a lot of them draw upwards of 25 to 30 amps apiece which especially if you're running them both at the same time sounds like an awful lot to me. the way my boat is set up my Kicker motor has an alternator and both my main and kicker are going to the cranking battery. so my question would be I have a spot for a spare battery and I was thinking of wiring the kicker charger system to that battery as well as both downriggers to keep that load off of the starting battery which also controls sonar Etc. unnecessary? Good idea?
for those of you that may have them, are they worth the money? Upgrading my manual to Electric. I could buy to scotty's or cannons for the price of 1 traxstechk but I like the features
anyone else using this? Trying to figure out what size reel I need to buy to get 300 feet of weighted Steel on with about 500 feet of wire line backing.already tried my Okuma 55 and it's not happening. looking at tekota 600 but just wondering if anybody can tell me for sure. Thanks
Just seriously getting into it and I have no illusions as to how difficult it is. I have a lot to learn but refuse to be discouraged. Definitely have caught the bug..
if it's the same Anglers Avenue I've done business with in the past I'm pretty sure they are in Michigan. had an issue with my order that wasn't even their fault and they went out of their way to take care of the issue and hook me up with way more free tackle the necessary
Wondering where is a good place in massena and/or ogdensburg area this time of year to launch without getting wet or messing up my boat. Are docks still in anywhere? Heading up next weekend. Pms welcome. Thanks
Mine is transom mounted on my 2016 crestliner 1850 superhawk but the mounting screws on the tohatsu didnt retract enough to fit over the transsom so i had to cut off the factory bolts/screws and then put stair tread liner on the outside and over to the front of the transom to protect it and then put bolts through the holes on the front into a piece of 1/4" plywood to protect the inner transom. Works well, totally removable, and does a damn good job of dampening vibration as no part of the motor mount is in direct contact with the boat.I have it linked to the main with a panther tie bar which I did not have to bend at all.I topped it off with an Itroll throttle controller which I love.
Heading up to slr at the end of the month for walleye/musky trip. Have a 19' aluminum deep v.looking at fishing between Ogdensburg and Massena probably with a Massena emphasis.my question is for those of you that are still fishing the river where can I launch without having to wear waders and worry about dinging up my new boat.I'm guessing most of the docks must be gone by now. any info or input would help
Most ducer wires are shielded wires so you would most likely have to buy proper extensions instead of simply splicing more length in,then you would have to make them truly waterproof. Sounds like more trouble than its worth imo. Good thought tho
the reason some of them look hazy is because I now paint over my glow spoons with glow nail polish because I got sick of the finish getting rubbed off in The Tackle Box and on bottom. makes them much more durable but a little less pretty
mostly glow. bottom row is 2/3 and 2/5 ounce Cleo's with the larger spoons being a brand-new moonshine and a crocodile and then the upper row is all three quarter ounce Cleo's mostly used. $60 plus shipping
