If you’re looking for reliable then Scotty’s are it. Nothing fancy no electronics, no reversing motor just a clutch manual operated with as simple design as there is. I have them and they don’t break down. But I do wish the had a shaft that flexed to take some wearing off the gunnels Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
It's very hard to keep floors lasting, the best method is to use a good two part paint with some pumice. Fiberglass will absorb water, even gel coat eventually. There is a lot of misinformation out there. There are many paint products that look as good (in my opinion better) as gel coat, and they are waterproof. Look into the epoxy stuff, but linoleum is awful as water can get under it and you will never know.
I made a set as well they work great till the wood starts to get waterlogged after a few years. Then mine sat way low in water. If you figure out a way of drying them out (kiln dry level dry) over the winter and they will last a long time. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
Any of the coated ones work about the same. The rubber ones are heavy in the water if the bag is big so no good for salmon IMOP. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
Your going to have a hard time getting glue to adhere for very long. You can buy a paint that almost mimics vinyl flooring. It will stick real well to it. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
Set it on the hard, and it will sell, its a prize to the right person. It is what mine started out as, except mine had a mercruiser in it, check out www.knotlost.net in the picture aria and you can see the work that transformed it into a great lakes salmon fishing boat.
I spool 300 feet of 50# Power pro, then fill the reel with wire, normally it takes (daiwa saltist 35 or 40 ish reel) 400 to {a bunch of} yards. You often have to cut off some wire if your using it hard, no big deal cut it and toss it keep going till the day you let out your wire and dont have enough then buy some more and start over but you dont have to replace the power pro. When you get low on wire and a fish takes it your not going to get spooled because of the power pro that is on there.
Starboard will bend, its not the right stuff for that, its tensile strength is totally wrong! Over time or in heat it will warp awful with the weight attached to it. Please dont use it.. Look for a exterior ply wood they have at lows its called a project plywood. Its 3/4 inch thick and 7 ply with no voids. its made with exterior glue ( I cut a piece and boiled it in water for 30 mins no delamination at all was perfect) (that's the standard test but at only 10 mins) .. It has a stupid weird name I can never remember they sell it in 1/2 inch as well. This is the same as your marine grade ply but at half the price and available locally. You can glue a couple of the 3/4 layered together with some epoxy and then paint the whole works with some epoxy thinned with a bit of acetone.
