  1. Wow, this is a lot of very useful info. Thanks it will help a lot!
  2. Thanks everyone I think I've got it figured out
  3. I was trying to figure out if I should run copper or a dipsy setup. If I do run wire, how much mono backer should I put on and how much wire?
  4. Little salmon river yesterday. Couldn't see any ice far out as it was foggy.
  5. Also, do I have to change the rod tip to run wire?
  6. I want to set up some copper and wire rods this year, but I'm not sure how to set it up. How do you know how much backer to put on the reel before you put the wire on while keeping the line counter accurate. I want to set up my Okuma Stratamaster SM30D with with either 300' or 400' copper or wire for dipsys. Which do you recommend and how do I spool it? Thanks.

We went to the south shore state launch yesterday and got 1 huge smallmouth, but no eyes. We saw tons of baitfish and fish feeding, but with all the baitfish we couldn't get one to bite.
  9. Pretty sure it's gone
  10. We got skunked but apparently it's been good for other people. The lower temp is possible but if u look on the first pic on the left it doesn't look solid.
  11. We were on owasco lake and we got this wierd bottom clutter. This clutter could be fish, but as you can see from the pics, it's from ~75ft to the bottom no matter the depth. This was there from the time we got out there until dark, when the clutter moved to the top. Sorry for the blurry pics.
  12. That's what I was thinking too, not growing but washed down there. Why will the problem go away? Ice?
  13. I can tell you that there are definitely weeds on the bottom in some spots. I let out a bit of line an shoot the rigger to the bottom. Once the screen clutters up, I pull it from the release and boom. Loaded with weeds.
  14. These methods are for floating weeds, but on Oneida the biggest issue is weeds on the bottom. You know when you go through a patch of weeds because your ff clutters up and your rod tips bend more.
  15. So...what are weed guards? Also do you mean put a snap weight clip on the line behind the downrigger clip? What kind of bead do you mean before the lure? Thanks a lot.
  16. Not sure, but I know on the fish hawk TD it's based on water pressure. I assume the x4d is also based on water pressure for that very reason.
  17. It is at the home page, under lake Ontario fishing, right under New York fishing reports.
  18. There's a whole section devoted to fishing reports on the Canadian side of the lake, you should check it out.
  19. Wow, that's a great idea. We'll try that next tome
  20. 12" perch and 2.25lb 20" eye. Weeds were absolutely horrendous. Went 30-40 fow right at the bottom stick baits and worm harnesses and blade baits.
  21. Edit: something messed up
  22. We're hoping to go to Oneida to troll for some walleye. We haven't fished Oneida all year and want to know what's working for trolling. Thanks.
  23. I also sent a PM
  24. The boat is an '85 or an '86
