Sold / Closed 2011 North River Seahawk

Now that's a boat!!!!!! Trying to find a 18 -20 ft west coast style boat, but they're just not around. I'm surprized they havn't caught on here. Good luck with the sale, just too much boat for my needs.
  2. I'm wondering if anyone might offer a suggestion. I run a Lowrance HDS Gen 2 7 Touch, about six or seven years old with an HDI 83/200/455/800kHz transducer. Regular sonar works fine, but the downscan is iffy but OK down to 45 ft only. Any deeper and there is no display at all. Im guessing a bad crystal in the transducer, but before I hang out $125 is there any way to know for sure? Is it typical for those to weaken with age? I've thought of swapping my unit onto another boat with the same setup, but nobody left in the water that I know of here. (Thousand Islands)
  3. Wally, sweet boat. The time spent on decluttering the wiring will pay off in proper functioning of all of your electronics. I’m sometimes amazed that things work at all on some boats I’ve been aboard. That Crestliner SST is a nice design, big and tough, with a lot of freeboard. Safety comes to mind. Enjoy it
  4. I have to say I agree with Bulletbob’s feelings. I don’t think a tournament or two would create too much harm, but there seems to have been “an event “ every week, all summer. Good news for the small motels along Rt 12 and some small restaurants. But the impact on the fish has to be monumental. Local guides had some really lean years waiting for things to stabilize after the gobie invasion. I believe they would say there are not a lot of mid sized fish like there used to be, but the larger fish are real monsters making them attractive to the “pros”. I started this thread because there is a real change to the congestion on popular spots, and 6:15 am launch up or down the river can be pretty hectic. Personally looking forward to a scaled back fall.
  5. Duckman, I wanted to pass my experience selling a 90 acre woodlot that I'd owned and hunted for 30 years. I did so because I had moved 100 miles away and thought I'd pick up something closer to new home if it sold. I used a realtor who specialized in hunting properties and found a buyer in a relatively short time and closed. What I did wrong is that I didn't realize what the costs would be per acre to replace it in the new area. I say costs because there are really two: the cost per acre for the purchase and what the new PROPERTY TAXES would be. I had owned my propery for 30 years, and my assessment was pretty antiquated. Good for me. A new assessment on a new property will be based on your purchase price. In my case, the would have at least tripled the tax bill on a similar propery here. Additionally, larger tracts go for really good money. I couldn't justify it, and have decidied to lease instead. Here's my point: Decent woods are hard to find. Add to that how much you know about how to successfully hunt your existing property. Think real hard before you give that up. Or consider leasing it for a while to other hunters until you are positive. Off point, I know and apoligize. There may be others reading this in a similar boat. Prof

  9. Same issues here in the Narrows. Simply put, no shortage of people who put their needs ahead of everyone else’s. I feel those values were taught to me by the generation that preceded me, and hope I have passed it along to those who will follow. I’ll find it hard to resist the water bottle toss now that you’ve offered the suggestion, however, Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  11. I recently upgraded my 2011 24 V Terrova to Bluetooth and have the following for sale: Remote Control Board I-pilot head Foot Pedal Control Essentially, all of the electronics. Everything works as it should. Reason I upgraded was for newer features like jog and ability to save tracks after shutdown. If you’ve got a Terrova without spot lock, this will do it. However, do your research to be sure it will work for you. Each major component is over $150 alone. My price if for all 4. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. Don’t know where you are, but Battery World, east malloy rd Syracuse or Yorkville Battery have blemish group 31s at great prices. They get all of my business. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. This was an old trick from the 90's on Oneida. Release, like a Black's on the cable above the ball. Run a stick bait like a Rapala or Thunderstic Jr. back about 40ft. Small snubber, like a 3/16 dia on the rear eye of the ball, tied to a short leader say 6 ft, pulling a shad Rap ( or similar diver). Don't know about the legality or ethics of dragging a lure in such a fashion as you never know when you have a fish on until you pull the rigger up. I think I recall that being what tipped the scales in the illegal/unethical direction.

  15. Some parts of the river are pretty congested, and as a result a speed limit of 30mph was enacted between Rock Island Light (just above the bridge) all the way to Chippewa. I think high speed is generally what most irritates “conventional “ fisherman, along with the practice of blasting by a bait fisherman at close distances. 17. It's the opening week of bass season and I've never seen so many pro style/equipped bass boats working the area from Clayton to Alex Bay. Is there some kind of tournament going on or are folks just out enjoying the area? Got to be good for the motels and bait shops and most notably, gas stations. Publicity appears to have drawn a lot of out-of-staters.
  18. Pretty rare fish indeed! Love those fog horns early in the AM. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. Nice catch! There seem to be some decent size fish this year. April was awesome, and it seemed you could still find some good schools this month. It's easy to find friends when you've got some good perch coming! Stay on em.

  22. Jim, Great video. Gets my heart going for sure. That being said, if a guy is planning to try downriggers here, he'd best be knowledgeable about the structure he's fishing, have good charting software, and a better depth sounder. As usual, summer fish are generally in the bottom 3 ft amongst those well documented broken boulders. Very unforgiving, but not impossible. Patience is the key.
