Left Braddocks at 5am and went north west until we hit 115 foot of water and targeted lakers for the Loc derby using blue 5/0 cowbells with a mag blue UV chartreuse dot and a 4/0 green and yellow UV running a mag gambler bull frog. The green bull frog was hot so we swapped out the blue for a 4/0 green and yellow and a custom green killer bee mag I put together with gamblers parts.. We doubled a bunch of times and picked up about 10 lakers but couldn’t get a fish larger that 13lbs to get on the loc board. Best depth was 110 feet but a better class of fish was at 120
At 845am swapped to a kings setup with riggers at 50 , 200 copper, and wire slide divers on 2 at 200 feet back. We got 2 kings about 12lbs each in 120 FOW one on the rigger at 50 on a moonshine mag green knight. The other came on the wire slide diver on a custom brown town painted on a copper mag dreamweaver blank.
Back at the launch by 1030am
Got out about 1245pm after the rain broke and went all the way down to hedges and trolled with the east wind back to seabreeze in about 2 hours.
water had a great stain and fluctuated between 42 and 45 at the creek outlets.
Only boated 5 browns from Webster park to ship builders creek but then had 4 on at once right in front of ship builders creek.
great day to be out and had the whole lake to ourself!
went 9/10 with the following spoons! Best speed was 2.2 at the ball. Best depth was 10 feet
First day out on the big lake and our home turf iBay. Being 15 min from the launch we were the first boat out and had at least an hour to ourselves headed east towards Webster park. Went 7 for 9 in 3 hours of fishing. The SWR off the riggers with a greasy chicken wing and a Reel Rage neon Leon got 3 in the boat. The other 4 were on Bayrat BT candy and a UV orange on flatlines and 1 color stayed inside of 20ft of water the entire trip!
I am fully booked next weekend with Boy Scouts and the following with some Halloween parties so today was the dreaded put the boat away day. I store my boat at TJs marine in prattsburgh so we decided to hit up woodville on the way.
Temp break was pretty tight at 68 feet. It was 50 degrees right below that and 65 4 feet up.
we landed a few lakers and a nice bow along with a small perch on the 10 color and a smallmouth on the dipsey out 150. With the cold front rolling through I wasn’t expecting much.
marked a ton of bait out infront of vine valley! If it wasn’t windy I would of just circled that area.
see you all next year!
A bunch of small boats in the creek this morning before sun up. I think most were hunting though because as soon as legal shooting time hit guns were a blazing.
Lol we did the same thing and from the reports they had 4 footers and low numbers unless you went 10 miles out. The northern launch this time of year is pretty quiet which makes canadaigua a quick trip as I live in rochester.
Niiiiice boat. We were the white and blue glastron that waved around noon heading in! (my exact words to peter were that’s my dream boat) how did you do?
Owasco is quickly becoming one of my favorite fingerlakes! Fished there Tuesday morning and then again on Sunday for the FLTA where we took first ever 1st place with a 4 fish 25lb-14oz box.
Sunday all of our fish came on a spoon bite. The greasy chicken wing UV copper on a slide diver took 2 of the lakers and 2 bows. A standard sized small green dot DW on 10 color took the 9lb lake trout lunker on Sunday brought all the way in (100 yards) by my buddy Pete who is a novice fisherman !
The 1st highlight of the day was a bow doubleheader one on the rigger on a dirty white boy and one on the slide diver chicken wing where they jumped over each other.
The 2nd highlight was a 6.5 lb laker that came off right at the back boat and when I went in to jump in after it with the net it just floated there so we ended up turning around and was able to net it before it swam back down.
We had our gear parked at 47 feet all day with a pretty steady bite in 150 fow until the cooler was full at noon and we called it and watched the bills stink it up over a burger and beer at drifters.
After Dan’s last report on Canandaigua I couldn’t resist taking a morning off with my oldest to target some silvers.
Met Dan at the launch at 530am and strategized quick to check if the east or west side was marking bait. Thanks for the westside tip as I never fish there with any luck.
I didn’t mark much on the east side so we zipped over to the water treatment plant on the west side and we marked a ton of bait all the way south to menteth point.
we target just silvers at first and lost 2 right at the boat immediately at 50ft on the riggers use glow spoons. We then had to more releases that blanked. Then we had a big strike on the 10 color with a copper Uv custom spoon from reel rage. Saw it jump 300 feet back and worked hard to get him in the boat.
We also got a few lakers in the upper column on spoons on 10 colors.
about 9am we slowed down to 1.7 and dropped the riggers tight to the bottom at 120 and picked up a triple (2 on the rigger and one on 10 color) on lakers. Until 10am we had a steady flow of lakers with one being over 10lbs.
Thanks Dan for all the tips it made for a fun morning!
