  1. Well done! 15 years married this September and I take my wife out for salmon once a year and still haven’t figured it out. Maybe this year I’ll get her hooked into a king for the first time.
  2. Yep that definitely is the case. The area has gotten slightly bigger since I got the boat last summer.
  3. Nice, I fish solo most of the time as well and it definitely has its challenges. Great report thanks. I have fished FH a few times but never past 150’. How far out is 400+ ?
  4. Awesome, I just got back from striper fishing and got it done aboard my old faithful haha. Hopefully going out for salmon in the next couple of weeks.
  5. Nice rig Clark, trailer looks great too! I hope you get it broken in quick, your little boat served you well for years.
  6. Great job, thanks for the report. Still waiting to get out there with my wife hopefully soon
  7. Thanks Brian, I will look them up and see what they say. Orangediablo, I have looked into the injection floor system and considered it a temporary bandaid but you raise a good point that if it doesn’t work in a few more years the worst thing that could happen is that I have to replace the floor as I was already considering in the first place. How much did the material cost you to fix that small area? I just don’t want to lose the boat for the rest of the season or have it done over the winter and not be able to shrink wrap it for the rest of the winter.
  8. I have a small 12” soft area on the back deck of my Sea Ray and am looking for someone who does this kind of work. I love the boat too much to look for something else but realize this may be a costly project. Would like to get an idea of what this repair would look like. If anyone has a person I could contact I’d appreciate it.
  9. Thank you but I stopped at a tackle shop in Plymouth and tested a Daiwa BG and liked the feel so much I bought it. Put it to the test on a tank striper the next morning and it passed the test. I think a 7000 size is as big as I would go for what I target but that 8000 you have would work for shark fishing from the beach which I haven’t done in years.
  10. Well done, congrats! Wow fish are already starting to get darker.
  11. Just left cape cod and early fall patterns are already developing on the coast with peanut bunker already running hard. I wonder if that is a sign that we’ll have earlier run this year too?
  12. Great reel, wish I saw this last night. Had a striper break mine last night on the beach and ran in and bought a 6000. I could use a bigger one though. Planning on driving closer to Syracuse any time in the near future? Let me know
  13. My model has a foot pedal but there is a red button on the motor head you push to hold the course, works great so I can troll alone
  14. The smallmouth fishery may still be good for some but nothing like it was until about 2000 when VHS hit them and the shoreline was covered with dead smallies . I haven’t seen fishing anything like previous to that die off.
  15. Put our money into what we know is a sustainable fishery. If a group wants to donate their own money to stock an experiment, go for it.
  16. Thork, I went to Dicks a few weeks ago for turkey shells and found out they no longer have a guns and ammo department so I went to Walmart yesterday to get them and the shelves were bare besides a few boxes of target shells and some .22 long rounds. Not just competitions will come to a halt soon…
  17. I agree that stripers don’t have the long fighting power of a king but as far as table fair, striper wins the battle. Then again, I haven’t tasted one from freshwater only ocean caught.
  18. I just googled it. Looks like we are stuck with the adults for the next couple years. They spend their first 3-10 in the streams as juveniles.
  19. At least that will help next years crop but how long do the adult lampreys live
  20. I hear they are the best chum you can use 😉
  21. All I have to say is that I am grateful that it’s bass that are the targeted species for all of these multiple tournaments. I like to fish for them when nothing else is biting, if I have the time. With that being said it is no longer a sport the way they are fished for and it will continue to get worse as people demand instant gratification and bragging rights. The weigh in station format needs to end. With the technology on these boats one of their multiple screens could be a tv monitor or some kind of fish verification method so fish can be immediately released to where they came from. Again, I’m glad these are bass we are discussing and not carp 🫣
  22. Too bad salmon don’t eat eels like stripers do
  23. X2 on the rubber band. Attach one end to cable then the cheater clip w/swivel goes through the other end and on the main line of course. When a fish hits, it snaps the rubber band and allows the cheater to slide down your main line to the swivel.
  24. That’s a good question. I always assume walleyes because that what I mainly fish for.
