Henderson and Stoney
greenhornet73 replied to newmike's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
It’s a large body of water and plenty of area to roam. If you think people keeping their limit is draining the lake think again. You may have no idea what has been happening on the Reservations for all these years without any limits because if you did you would realize how many walleyes there are and how successful natural reproduction is happening. -
Sorry to hear about your loss. Sounds like you have a lifetime of great memories to remember him by. You are blessed, many people don’t have strong relationships with parents until their later years in life or sometimes never at all. Remember the reason he started fishing with you at a young age is because he enjoyed spending time with you and wanted to share his favorite activities with you as well. I take my kids fishing every time they ask. Cheers

If anyone else is wondering, it turns out they are biting really well even in daylight.

I tried 2 lakes before May 1st and both spots were dead. Wondering if there is a good bullhead spot right now and what lake. Not looking to spot burn anybody’s honey hole, just a general vicinity for a body of water. My dad finally wants to get out tonight and hopefully catch a few fish.

Walleye surprise
greenhornet73 replied to lrg355's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
There are more big walleyes in the area than you realize. I fish just north of there off stony point in my kayak and 4 years ago landed a 30” 9lber trolling a reef runner then lost another around the same size at the net I caught on a worm harness later that evening. It bit through the 15# mono I had tied the harness with. -

For me fishing out of a kayak is the difference between a fly rod and a casting rod or a bow and a rifle. It simplifies the sport and puts you closer to the water and the fish you’re hunting. Some days the simplification is more attractive than the hassles of taking the boat out and waiting in line at the launch or a fighting with a finicky motor. -
