Ok, here it is. It is finally time to venture beyond my kayaks limits and take the new boat off-shore tomorrow. Would anybody like to offer any advice on a starting point as far as depth and about how far from the chute it is? Being my first time beyond 1/2 mile out I don’t want to get too far away from my starting point. Planning to run 2 downriggers stacked with 200’ max of cable and 1 Dipsy Rod in my 19’ CC. Any advice would help greatly, thanks -

Great, thanks for the info. I’ll have to get in touch with Shane about the t-top. Just got back from the lake after a 3 hour troll with my friend and his son who don’t fish much. Dropped two heavy fish in mid fight, the second may have been a musky or a huge eye since we didn’t gain much line during the 3 minute tug of war that hit 28 feet down over 63’ on the rigger. Both heavy hits came on the same stacker and had a couple quick releases as well. I just set the lines and drove the boat and let them reel up all the hits. I did grab one planer board hit and landed a 14” brown on a rapala. Can’t wait to get back out there and land some.

Awesome, very nice. At some point I hope to have some quality gear like that but still building my arsenal. Just finished rigging up my 5th trolling rod, a wire Dipsy setup. I also got a few of the lures you suggested and hope to do a shakedown run on Otisco this week before I hit the big O. I’d love to get a couple of those eyes trolling without spinning a kayak around and tangling up lines this time haha

How’s the fishing been out there? I haven’t been to Otisco for 3 weeks but hoping to try out my new downriggers today before I hit Ontario. I have never been able to try spoons for walleyes here but would like to throw a couple into the mix to see how they do. Any color guidelines to follow or does it change by the day?

Finally got out for my first night of walleye fishing last night and did very well in 3 hours of fishing. Started off jigging up 2 tank small mouths then switched to top waters at dusk for walleyes. Went 4 for 7 after missing the first few light biters before they were finally ready to commit. Biggest was 26” and smallest was 22” and all went for bright colors crawled on top in very stained, high water. Lots of debris in the water so boaters beware.

Trolling with a Yamaha 130 2-stroke

I like the idea of having a back up just in case, just not sure if there is room on the transom for a kicker. I may start off with trolling bags and in the meantime talk to the mechanic about mounting options, thanks guys -
Hey guys, wonder if any of you have this motor? I recently bought a 2003 on a 19’ sea pro (Fiberglas CC) and wondering if it’s going to troll down to 2 mph or so or will I need to install my kicker? Haven’t run it yet and having it looked over by a mechanic, may be a couple weeks before I get it back.

It never got hooked but the teeth got caught up in the egg sac mesh which is how I landed it -
Musky in Salmon River ?

Can’t say for sure what year but between the range of late ‘90’s and before 2005 since I haven’t done much steelhead fishing since then. Even at such a young stage, the markings clearly looked to be a musky to me. I have caught many northerns in the estuary but haven’t heard of any muskies caught in that area but seems like all the habitat they would need are present there.
