  1. Nice, I didn’t get a landlock this year but about everything else on Skaneateles. I put most of my trolling gear away besides a few rods for steelhead trolling in another week or two on the big O.
  2. The wind/ weather is definitely limiting trips but when I have been able to get out the fishing has been excellent for perch and I’m literally all alone out there.
  3. No idea but could be because the fishing is so good and people are being tight-lipped or they’ve put their boats away. I’m still going out every weekend until the shore ice forms
  4. Each tree will have to be fully protected by fencing or deer will mow them down to nothing. Also protect each trunk or rabbits will damage the trunks every winter and shorten the life of the trees. Many popular eating apple trees are susceptible to disease so I would suggest Dolgo crabapple trees. 4’ saplings will grow to 8’ in 4 seasons and will no longer need protection. The crabapples grow to almost 2” in diameter and deer and turkeys love them. Be aware that if you order trees from out of state their description may not be accurate to our region. My Dolgo crabapples have just started dropping in late September and will continue to drop until February and will attract wildlife throughout the entire hunting season.
  5. I have some I’m willing to sell. Not sure of weight, will check when I get home but have a few at least 3 lbs kicking around.
  6. I forgot to tell you the longer boom is 4’ not 6’. If you want it I can put it in the box as well.
  7. Right, the Digitroll also says Magnum 10A on it so I assume for parts sake the guts are the same besides the LCD touch panel which you can’t find anymore. I never ended up putting these on my boat since I went a different route with manual downriggers but both run.
  8. 6’ and the other I believe is 18”
  9. 2 older Cannon Mag 10A downriggers for sale with swivel mounts. Both riggers power up and work. One seems to work well up/down with the toggle switch but no LCD display on the screen. Could probably rebuild these (LCD model is no longer made) to work great or use them for parts. Pick-up only. Located on Onondaga Hill by Onondaga Community College.
  10. This mount was mounted on my boat and never taken out on the water because it is not made for a 9.9hp 4-stroke motor. No mounting hardware included but available in basically the same new condition it was purchased from Amazon. It is constructed of anodized aluminum and suitable for 7 1/2-20HP 2- stroke motors. I’m sure it would be fine for a small 4-6 hp 4-stroke but definitely doesn’t have the spring power for 90lbs. Asking $90.
  11. I love doing this through the ice although it’s been years since it’s been a hard enough freeze. It’s a blast watching them scream up the column 30’ to hammer a retrieved jig then dive back down with it.
  12. The lakers are definitely going strong but I have only caught 8 rainbows this entire season so far to just under 100 lake trout. This one was my biggest ever out of there and he was thick.
  13. Had a late start this morning but the fish didn’t mind. Started off with lake trout then the rainbows turned on. 4 bows hit the deck with the biggest stretching the tape to 24”. Nice big male returned along with the others but one 16” kept for the pan. My best fish of the season have come the last 2 weeks. Been a great season.
  14. That was cool, I’d love to feel a pike hit a fly.
  15. I have the cable attached now and have been trailering it with 2 ratchet straps to hold it tight to the transom but the safety cable only seems to be there to allow the motor to drag on the road or hang under the boat in case it comes free from the bracket. I also have the wing nuts on the motor attached together with a piece of wire to prevent them from spinning loose enough to make the motor unsecure.
  16. Sounds like Skaneateles, they are in there but not enough to target them.
  17. I was in Canandaigua for the weekend and ate at a restaurant on the water last night and they had beer battered walleye as a “daily special”. I didn’t ask the waitress but are there walleyes in the lake? The harbor was beautiful and I’d like to visit again but I have never fished Canandaigua.
  18. Nice hefty fish there!
  19. Yes, thank you for the detailed reports. I never made it out onto the lake but every time I was about to I felt like I had a good game plan together 🤔
  20. I agree, 2.3-2.5 is my most consistent top speed that produces the most bites.
  21. If you don’t get any other replies, I would suggest looking at your graph and finding the steepest drop-off locations( contour lines that are closest together). I don’t fish Keuka but trolling other finger lakes I find the largest concentrations of fish along points and those step drops. White tube on a 1/2oz jig head and don’t forget lakers like to chase from the bottom so occasionally speed reel your jig from bottom up 10-15’ then stop (hold) then drop back down.
  22. That’s rough, I was tempted to try yesterday morning but decided to hit Skaneateles instead, glad I did for many reasons. I wish they could predict the waves better, my boat doesn’t fish in 3’ers, especially by myself.
  23. Cleaning the fish was clearly evident of its low -fat diet. A thick, mature fish like that typically has quite a bit of dark meat along the skin side and this fish hardly had any and what was there was light pink and not dark red like alewife eating fish. Also had no fat inside the cavity like others. Im really looking forward to frying this up later.
  24. I lost a smaller one at the boat a couple of weeks ago but landed this one today that hit my dipsey rod spoon. It felt like the dipsey didn’t release but was feeling head shakes so I knew there was a fish on. When the dipsey planed at the surface, but still felt the weight, my heart started pounding. Measured 25”.
