  1. Yep, they stuff themselves with them. Changed the taste of the walleyes too
  2. It’s an awesome lake for trophy fishing but not for quantity unless you really put your time in. One of my heaviest walleyes came from there and was only 27”. It went 10 # and looked like it just ate a bass in one gulp.
  3. I’ve pretty much stopped fishing the lake since last year. Summer trolling for eyes for me has become a fishless tour around the lake. The other lakes I fish require much less time and gas to get bites, just not as much quality in size. Nice job connecting on those fish.
  4. Let me know how this works with lake run salmon if you try it. I haven’t been out on the big lake yet this year.
  5. I don’t remember anymore but I may have to experiment a flasher trailed by a tube body that I use for laker jigging to try a different presentation
  6. I haven’t fished there in about 15 years since he sold it but I’m sure the fishery has changed since then. We also did well with trolling fresh staging salmon in there the last day we fished it when it sold. I may still have some pictures of the fresh silvers we got that day. I didn’t realize at the time how odd that was that they looked like we caught them in July and not September. Good luck fishing, let us know how you do.
  7. It used to be called “dragging iron” for smallies. The numbers aren’t what they used to be but they have rebounded some.
  8. I don’t know about walleye or pike but my father-in-law used to have a camp there and punished the smallmouth bass drifting crayfish behind a slowly trolled anchor. It would kick up sediment and get the bass in a feeding frenzy.
  9. Also really good smallmouth bass fishing right where you are if you feel like doing that and the wind isn’t cooperating for deep water fishing. Use anything that looks like a crayfish
  10. If fishing the “trench” just be aware of the contour changes since it drops off quickly along it. You could lose a rigger weight if you aren’t paying attention.
  11. No, sorry to say I never served but am grateful every day for those of you that have and continue to protect our freedom.
  12. Oh I got you now. No my boat name isn’t a reference to the Green Hornet squadron of the military SOS. Think back to “Grumpy Old Men”.
  13. Saturday I pulled up to a Full Lot and had to wait 45 minutes for a boat to come in for the day so I was able to launch. As I was launching my stern line grabbed a downrigger and dropped it into the drink. Thought I was going to have a doozy of an afternoon but my bad luck ended there. It was a little slow at first but had a steady action after a few lure color change ups. Landed around 9 lakers and 2 smallies. Not bad for a hot, bluebird sky afternoon for me.
  14. Fantastic, that’s a great outing. I always enjoy your jigging videos and even tried it once so far with staging kings but no luck.
  15. Great, thank you. How many miles out to 100’+?
  16. Awesome thank you. Is it a launch that can be used by a single person? I have been to some where a second set of hands is needed to drop in
  17. I’ve never launched out of Oswego, is the public launch at Wrights Landing or right in the harbor where the charters are docked?
  18. Solid morning for rough conditions, nice job
  19. Those are a lot of fun. I don’t fish for them much any more but appreciate the fight every time I tangle with one.
