I had something that went on the end of a garden hose that looked like a toilet plunger with an adjustable telescopic handle. You would prop it up tight against the strainer and turn the water on. Worked like a charm. I sold the boat but still have it. $10.00 if you want it. I live in Rochester.
I grew up ¾ mile down the lake from the plant. We would buy up the pike bait after season close on 3/15 from the bait shop and anchor in the fast water just after ice out with 9' fly rods and drift those minnows and absolutely kill the trout and salmon stacked in there. Bass fishing in the summer was incredible. Wish it was still accessible.
How did they fish the warm water? Have to stay a mile from the property. Also do you still have to have a town resident permit to launch? Used to be they give you a ticket if you are parked in the creek area or across the road at the water treatment plant.

Went out of Indian Pines. Walking was 7 inches of snow over 2-3 inches of slush. Drag was OK as our light sled was staying on top. Didn't have a bite between 3 of us. Only stayed about 2½ hours as the wind was strong and we left the 2 man flip over home because we knew the drag would be tough as we were walking. Talked to a couple Mennonites who had a couple of pumpkinseeds. As we were leaving a van full of Mennonites numbering about 13 walked out on the ice and joined the ones we talked to. Would have toughed it out if the bite was on. So far I have fished Sodus Bay, Irondequoit Bay, Long Pond and Braddock's Bay and have not caught enough keepers for a meal. Been real tough out there for me.
How ironic. I plan on going fishing tomorrow and am leaving my Otter 2 man home and am taking the jet sled with my Polar Pal. It's a shame they don't make these anymore. Great light weight shelter.
Was out last Friday and sunday. Plenty of ice. 6"+ Was slow. Only one small pike and one small perch. 60+ guys out there Sunday. Tried Long Pond too on Sunday but got skunked.
Plenty of ice out there today. More than enough wind. Quit after 2½ hours even though I had a shelter. Just too windy to be enjoyable. Wind flags. Holes fill with snow. Tip downs blow over. Shanty blowing away unless your sitting in it. Several guys out there and most quit by 9:30. No one on Cranberry. Large spot of open water in middle. No one on Long Pond. Duck hunters on Braddock's must have had a hay day by all the shooting heard. See ya
There were 3 guys out there at noon today. 2 straight out from the canoe launch and one in front of the docks. One guy 150yds off shore in Long Pond and one guy very close to shore on Cranberry. Should be good ice on Braddock's
Planning on going to Long Pond on Friday and Sunday to see if I can get into some of them 'eyes. Will be in a blue and black Otter 650 Cabin stop by and say hello.
