  1. 100% run divers. Watch a couple YouTube videos, then grab the net. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. Lakers have been mixed in with the browns in 20-30 FOW... Kings too Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. Public launches are open. Taughannock park emailed me today saying the launches and marina (for slip holders) are both open. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  5. I ran one last summer - the slip-ducer doesn’t work well with Scotty riggers due to the bead autostops the Scotty’s use. The unit itself worked pretty well - make sure you have good batteries in it. If you run Scotty’s either remove the auto stop beads, or go with the x4 (which is what I ended up doing) Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. Be careful if you use Scotty riggers, the slip-ducer doesn’t play well with the auto-stop beads Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  8. If your intention is to network your trolling motor and sonar together, if you go the Humminbird route you will need a Minn Kota with iPilot + LINK (not just iPilot), and a networkable Humminbird unit (Helix G2N, G3N). I don't believe any of the Helix 5s are networkable. If you solely want to run a sonar off your trolling motor, you can use about any Sonar with the Minn Kota Terrovas that have Universal Sonar. @Yankee Troller is a good guy to talk to about this stuff. If you're more of a Lowrance guy, they network with Motor Guide. I'm not well-read on how those units interface with eachother.
  9. If night-time fishing is your thing I'd recommend bullhead fishing instead.
  10. As long as they end up in 2 pieces, I don't think it matters where they go from there
  11. Fished Sunday.... gin clear, flat calm. Started between Lil Salmon and Catfish Creek. Rotted in 10-12' for a while best temp I found was 45.5*, went 1/2 inside. Slid out to 30' and took 4 more shots - boated 1 brown and a big laker, lost another brown at the back of the boat, broke one off without visual. 3 oz snap weight 30' in front of a spoon back 105' on boards, and riggers down 10-15' were best rods out deep. Caught a Boone n Crocket goby on a Stinger as well
  12. Same... I shoulda filleted the bastard.
  13. I haven't done that, but trolling the same water last Sunday I cleared a board rod to find a 7" goby that had eaten a Michigan Stinger I had been dragging around for who knows how long... that was a first for me.
  14. Gambler Rigs should be outlawed... they're too good at catching fish.
  15. Salmon to be had in 20-40 FOW on flat lines. Looks to be a good class of fish for this year. Good luck!
  16. The lake has come up quite a bit in the last week. To see the latest levels go to: http://www.canals.ny.gov/waterlevels/netdata/cayuga-levels.pdf
  17. Thanks for the update Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. Some quality fish, nice report Doc.
  19. You’ll never wish you had a smaller boat on Ontario. So long as the windows open it shouldn’t get too hot. Those are sweet rigs. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. Was very low as of Sunday. A couple feet of draft - my concern would be getting back on the trailer. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. Best bet will be Taughannock
  22. Thanks Doc Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. Anyone know how much waters at Deans Cove launch? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. Welcome aboard! You'll find years worth of archived data on this site - everything from tackle techniques to mechanical how-to's. I'd implore you to poke around and see what you find. Beyond that, the quickest way to run the learning curve is to book a charter out of whichever port you intend to fish. Tight Lines, Chris
