  2. It was actually off the Nags Head pier... I didn't eat them... I don't eat them they don't eat me!!!!! But some other people did... IM hopefully going to be going in the middle of October for the drum season
  3. I didn't catch any cobia or king mackerel but I was able to catch these at night with a bottom bait! There atlantic sharpnose shark
  4. When you say tandem do you mean the double bladed ones? If so, I have never gotten those to spin correctly! Like 1 in 5 casts they seem to work right
  5. We do have a large net, not coated though and we are going to buy one as soon as we get money... The problem is that we are bass fisherman (Yes I catch a large amount of bass with a size 5 mepps)
  6. Went out fishing today and was throwing the handy size 5 mepps at my favorite pike spot when I watch a huge pike come out and slam it... I fight it up to the boat and my dad and I get it in the net... It was about 17 pounds! by far the biggest ive ever caught! but of course, it was to long for our net and before we could get a pic it wriggled its way out of the net... Still makes a good story!
  7. The 310 and the grizzly are the ones that im looking at... Ive heard nothing but good reviews about Excalibur ecspecially the matrix line
  8. The problem with the ones that you just said is that they aren't legal in NY......
  9. Im confused... Im in Monroe county... Am I only allowed to hunt does during those small windows and not hunt outside of those windows?????
  10. The final verdict... Ended up with 5 in about 3 hours of fishing back in French creek marina... The largest was about 28 inches... It was interesting because the docks were so high I couldn't net so I had to trust my line to get it up! The action was on a size 5 Mepps with a gold blade and brown bucktail
  11. I ended up taking my dads advice from when he was younger and trying back in French Creek MArina and it was good... I only landed a 24 inch pike on a small pink and black cleo but I also threw a size 5 mepps with the dare devil colors and no bucktail and had a few huge hits... One of the hits bent the lure 90 degrees... It was the craziest hit ive ever seen... Ive never had a lure bend like that from a fish
  12. Cedarswamp, let me know how the new one treats u
  13. Throwing what?
  14. I am curious as to where I can catch pike from shore in Clayton NY... Ive heard about French Creek... Just wondering...Im staying in the fairwinds cabin and I will try from shore here but im wondering where else
  15. Champ, where did you see this? Has anyone else on here seen this?
  16. Seriously??? That's awesome! I really hope they did!
  17. Im looking for a penn squall size 12
  18. Im looking for an Excalibur recurve bow that is NYS legal... I have cash and am looking to buy one soon
  19. TTT one last time
  20. Well not small but smaller... And I will be using it as an anchor rod for pin rigging in the ocean for cobia. Heres a link describing it: http://www.avalonpier.com/tips/kingrig.html He uses a really short pole for his anchor rod... most people uses longer poles... I already have my fighting rod set up... I have a costum made J and M tackle rod with an okuma solterra 50w... I use bigger because I will leave mine out at night which is when the sharks come to play
  21. Im going to try one last time here before I go to ebay... Im looking for a 12 foot pole capable of throwing 8 ounces of weight... 12 feet is ideal but would go down to ten feet, no less. Im also looking for a small non-level wind reel to put on it. Im not looking for a reel to make non level wind I just want one that I can put line on and go
  22. After looking, im definitely looking at buying a recurve vs a compound just due to shear simplicity
  23. Well, now after doing shopping around im thinking about getting a Matrix 310 as it would be NY legal... The law about draw weight is one of the stupidest laws ive ever seen
  24. Well I just read that the max peak draw weight for NYS is 200 lb and the Matrix has 220 lb of draw weight... guess that's not happening
