With this warm weather Me and my daughter are thinking about fishing Lake Ontario this Sunday. I checked the marine weather reports and it looks like the lake should be calm enough( I know it could change between now and Sunday) I am located on the east side of Lake Ontario so I am thinking about trolling around the salmon river area. Any suggestions? How deep? Should I flat line stick bait? Riggers with spoons? Any advice is helpful! Thanks in advance!
You got me motivated to try some lake fishing too. Sunday in suppose to be almost 60°F. I think me and my daughter will go! I am on the east side of Lake Ontario. I guess I should try in front of the salmon river? Anyone have any suggestions?
I have always wanted to try lake Oneida. How much longer do you think the bite will be good for? I cant go this weekend because of the Thanksgiving Holiday. Thanks in Advance!
Nice pictures! That's my daughter in the pink waders.. She has a pink rod and reel to match. Her mom made the hat for her.. Did you get any pictures of the fight that took place that day.. Lol. The town pool does get crazy!
The boat launch at the light house is $10 now and the last time I was there the water was too low to launch my boat! The owner came out at warned me the water might be too low. He gave me my money back. I like that boat launch because it is so close to the lake! It has rained since I have been there so maybe the water has come up some.

I think I am going to try the mouth of the Salmon River. I heard guys were getting them to bite in 40-60 FOW. Hopefully the lake is calm! My knee can't take the big waves!! Thanks for the report!

Awesome Capt. Rich!! I just had knee surgery and I thought my season was over. Hopefully I will be walking soon and back on the water as soon as I can walk on my own! I probably won't put my boat away until sometime in late October.. I didn't have a good season so I am hoping to catch some Salmon soon! How much FOW and how far down? Thanks!!

Nice Steelhead!! When the Salmon start thier run I heard the Steelhead fish is great on the lake. I dont like combate fishing too mush and I think I would enjoy the Steelhead fishing while everyone eles is still fishing Salmon. How far down are the steelhead? I dont have a temp prob. I just started fishing Lake Ontario this year( Very expensive) so Its on the list for next season. Thanks in Advance!! Good luck on the LOC Derby!
What is the easiest way to check your cable counter? The line counter on my reels never match my down rigger cabe counter( when I subtract how much line is behind the ball) Also I would add check your cable for kinks. I almost lost a 12lb ball because the cable got kinked and frayed pretty quick!! Thanks in advance!
I launched out of Oswego this morning and had a Salmon first thing in front of 5 stacks in 135 FOW 90' down on a F.F. Then nothing the rest of the morning. I heard a lot of chatter on the Radio same story for a lot of guys.. One and done! Also got a lamprey.. Cut it in half.. Nasty thing!!
