It’s in your swivel A meat rig is not a stealth presentation so I would say upgrade and possibly upsize your swivel. Get a good one with ball bearings appropriately sized for your flasher and rig and you should be fine. Good swivels are expensive but worth every penny Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Lots of opinions on this one to be sure but I’ll start it off. We use frozen cut herring. Used to use familiar bite but now use the stuff from Rigged on this site. His stuff flat out catches fish and holds up well. We throw a tray in the cooler and go all day. For rigs we have a bunch. Most are Twinkie rigs and we usually run behin an 11” flasher or paddle. Minion on here makes great rigs. Troubles as well does quality. Both are good guys to work with Pop a strip in and pin it with a toothpick. Break tooth pick off, drop her in and make sure you have a good roll then send her down and get ready. Meat rigs have really come a long way and really have been killer on big kings. From May to sept we always have one down. Most days are big fish come off meat Hope this helps Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Perhaps I missed it but what is your boat equipped with. Do you have downriggers? Dipsey poles? If yes you are in business Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Top secrets video is excellent of wanting to use free sliders. That is exactly what we use. Excellent producer most trips on big steelies and occasional kings too. Just remember when using a free slider or cheater and the rod pops You need to reel like crazy. A lot of fish are lost because the rod pops and the guys on the boat thinks you missed them when in reality you need to reel the slack up quickly then game on. You will love them Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Steelies usually hang in the top 1/2 of water column. From surface to 50-70 ft. Many use reds/oranges but standard king spoons will take plenty of them too. Good technique is to run a deep spoon for kings with a free slider which will nail your steelies. Bump your speed too. I’ve caught them on meat and FF but generally spoons is the ticket Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United -

I looked back. I bought mine from Doug (Dhm) here on Lou. Might want to send him a pm I am really happy with mine. So small and handy If you go with spoon pads make sure you know the size you are buying and figure out where you are going to hang/store them as for us that created a problem of its own Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

I have a bunch of the spoon pads from Amish outfitters like the ones above. They are okay but I must say that if you are dealing with space issues these are not exactly small. We went that way and after 1 year we went back to special mate boxes. Too much hassle with the pads for us. We have two big special mates then a small one that holds about 40 spoons that we take on the boat with us Far better in our opinion for small space considerations but again everyone has a preference Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
