  1. A good day about 3/4 mile west of Hedges in the 160-180 fow region. Went 3 for 5, losing 2 monsters 15 and 30 feet behind the boat. One took a good part of the bend out of the spoon's hook. They were hitting equally well on spoons and FFs. Red/yellow and blue/green Pro King spoons did well and white/green and white/purple Atomik flies following white and white/blue flashers. Kept the 13 and 19.5 lb kings. 65-80 over 165-170 seemed to be the hot spot this morning. It's been pretty good in this area the last month.

  2. Another solution I have found is using a small 5" fan that plugs into your 12V accessory outlet. It has a large clamping suction cup base that really holds to the wall of the boat's cockpit. Attach it low and point it at your feet. Got it on Amazon for $20. Sent from my SM-T580 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. Started off getting a steelhead just over halfway between I-Bay and the river 60 down over 180 on an orange/copper spoon. Not much else was happening there so after checking out part of the floating cattail barge from Braddocks directly in front of the bay, headed toward Hedges. A lot of action in the 130-140 fow range directly north of Hedges. Got the trifecta of brownie, steelie and king in the same 135-140 fow line running SW to NE in this area. The brown and king hit a green glow NK spoon and the steelhead hit an orange/black copper spoon. Everything hit 55 to 65 deep, which I thought was unusual for a brown. He actually hit while I had practically stopped to change the lure on the other line. I've caught just about all my steelhead this year on orange/copper spoons. The king was decent size at 18 lbs. Saturday was one of the best days I've had in that location.

  4. Thanks for the post. Good info on the shallow water situation out of the bay.
  5. I was fishing with my 3 brothers last weekend when the flies hit us hard. Between the slapping and jumping it looked like a Hootenanny. Seriously though, we tried some Deep Woods Off the next trip, rubbing in on real good, and it helped a lot.
  6. Thanks for the report Rene. Nice king! Sent from my SM-T580 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. I've only been on this forum for a few years, getting into this sport later in life (60 now). I've learned so much from others here, and look for the latest reports whenever I head out. I've never read such a disrespectful post in the time I've been on here. What happened to common decency, respect for others and knowing when to bite your lip? Kudos to the experts here who can brush off the trash talk with some class and not get turned off from continuing to help others. Sent from my SM-T580 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Thanks for the nice report. A nice day and nice catch. Sent from my SM-T580 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. Thanks for the report. I'll be giving it a try in the morning.
  10. Mayer's launch is open. High water in the parking lot, wear your boots, but it's open.
  11. Did pretty good for the first trip out. East of I bay not quite to Hedges. Hit lakers and kings in 110-120 fow with the kings hitting 55-65' down. All on riggers with either frog or orange/copper spoons. A beautiful day.
  12. Nice going. Just goes to show you that it's always worth taking that last shot of the season! Sent from my SM-T580 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. I was pretty much straight out from the mouth of the river in 35-40 fow. A lot of boats when I first got there but nothing happening so I went deeper. Trolled back in the shallower area around noon as I was hanging it up for the day and that's when it turned on. Glad I passed thru again. Can't imagine that will last long.
  14. Spent some time trolling the front of the Genesee river yesterday morning in 50-70 fow. Wasn't until I got in much closer did I see some action. Around noon they hit one after another. Took three like this, 2 at 18 lbs and 1 at 19 lbs. All on FF with riggers set to 22-24' and 28-30' in the 35-38 fow range. Ran green/yellow, green/black/white flies with silver/green spiney and silver/blue flashers. They were not picky. It was nice that there were only a few other boats there at that time. A hot day out there with some unexpected action. You can see in one picture I'm due to upgrade my net!
  15. Are you local as in Rochester? I've been looking for an extra DR rod. Thanks. Sent from my SM-T580 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. The fleas were out in full force. What a PITA!
  17. Went out for a few hours this AM NW of I-Bay. One steelhead in 130 fow 60' down, but on the way back in found the hot spot directly N of the bay. 107 to 109 fow at 55-60' down hit 3 kings all on FF. It was hotter than blazes and I was on my way home but stuck it out for a while longer. All 3 kings were 12-14 lbs. All fish returned to Lake O for someone else in the future. 19. Great story Ric, even after 3 years I'm still on the learning curve too. The expertise on this board is invaluable.
  20. Yesterday morning was pretty good just due west of I-Bay in the 150-180 fow area.. Headed out at about 330 degrees on the compass and trolled from 100-200 fow. Action was 150-180 and 70' down. 2 nice kings, 8 and 16 lbs and a young steelie, all on copper/orange spoons. Good for only my 2 lines in the water. Surprising that there were not that many boats out.
