  1. Ditto on 12lb seagaur. I run different weights for different applications on the finger lakes 10#,12#,15# and 20#. All red label seagaur. I also double and triple check line often. Any knicks, knots, or off coloring I change it out and dont risk it!
  2. Hmmmm I'm putting 2 and 2 together now!
  3. There we go Brian! Do they still make the spin n glows that are the size of a cue ball?
  4. You've heard the stories too then!?!?
  5. Joey you stay outta here! There's no such thing as suspended lake trout!😂
  6. Often our best days we fish in 300-450fow with gear down 80-120 Brian and its simple fishing. Our biggest boxes this year came from doing this and some of our highest quantity catches
  7. This is a very interesting post. Seems to be about a 50/50 split of guys who catch bigger fish off the bottom and guys who catch bigger fish suspended! Guess they are both places
  8. Theres a big difference in Lakers on Ontario vs the fingers. In the fingers often those suspended Lakers are pretty easy to catch. Run a spin doctor and fly or the right spoon in the area your seeing those marks ESPECIALLY from July through September when those Mark's are 80-100 down over deeper water
  9. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up do NOT use the far south launch ramp at Treman. There is a log at the end that myself and another boat both kissed with our props this morning. No damage was caused at least to my rig however I would hate to see someone do damage! Water is still low aswell so be careful on any of the ramps and on your way out!
  10. I agree with nick here. Kings are a dime a dozen big landlocked Atlantics are far more appreciated in my book! As far as fishing them it's very similar to fishing kings. One thing to remember is if you can catch quantity while trolling drop your baits down deeper and often you'll find the bigger ones there!
  11. Are you asking about the different strategies to fish each?
  12. Wow! That's a deal!
  13. You can always find a place to cast at tughannok park
  14. Anyone who is interested in these riggers i highly recommend them I use them on my boat and they are the best manuals on the market! Really solid too. I wouldn't hesitate to run a 16lb ball if you wanted to! Good luck with sale!
  15. Theres no hook requirement anymore. However your limited to 5 lures
  16. Looking for somewhere between 4-8 flatline/downrigger combos. Okuma glts or shimano talora rods with okuma magda 30s preferred but will entertain other possibilities. WORKING LINE COUNTERS A MUST!
  17. Similar to stated above. I start around 2.2-2.4. They like anything from 2.0-3.0 on and given day when fishing spoons sticks and flasher/fly combos
  18. In the finger lakes I consider this transition from when the fish are feeding on the deep alwives which like to school up in the deep stable water in the winter 120-220ft down over deep depths. As the water begins to warm the alwives rise a bit and come closer to shore. Often this is when we have some of the best luck on landlocks and most of the time we stay off the beaten path that most guys take which is running stick baits and spoons flatlining and off short cores as close to shore as possible. We will instead fish depths of 80-250 and run flasher/fly combos, spoons and even sticks down to depths of 60-80ft. Thermoclines and temp haven't usually set up by then and they aren't bottom oriented however they are feeding heavily on bait so some days are going to be a struggle and others you will have a field day. Try running these flasher flies off a dipsy diver on a wire diver rod! You'll be surprised at how these fish fight in the spring.. weve had divers set on a 3 setting out 190 before roughly 75 ft down and saw the fish jump behind the boat before the rod moved then watched them scream drag like a king salmon!
  19. Everything has it's time and place for them. Spoons, sticks and flasher fly combos. Most of the time spoons and sticks will out fish flies for them however mid spring when the better size salmon are transitioning from their deep winter patterns to the spring patterns they can be caught mid water column on spin doctors and flies quite well trolling at the right speeds and with proper leader length behind the flasher
  20. Wow what a joke.... they want us to harvest resident birds and less migration birds but yet still harvest resident geese. Yet they keep the stupid September season that kills far more migratory birds than it should and get rid of the season that we actually get to kill local birds... the flyway counsel and apparently this new one of New York state are both jokes... cater to the deer hunters and claim they are being conservative to the migration however they obvious have not a clue in the world what actually happens every year. 15 birds a day and unplugged guns was the worst thing that ever happened to the Atlantic flyway goose population and these guys are too dumb to realize that...
  21. Is there no southern zone March goose season next year then?!
  22. You know how you make everyone in the western zone happy? Split the western zone in half so the regs and season dates are different from the Niagara and finger lakes regions.
  23. The Penn yan branch had some however the branchport branch lost what it had
