The connections made on this forum are in believable another reason this is such a great sight. Me and dmargeit run our rigs side by side all the time (which I believe is the rod your describing hop but I'll let Dylan talk on that) however his is set up with 50lb big game braid the whole way like he mentioned and mine is set up with 100ft of 25lb maxima mono with beads every 10ft from the bottom going up to 70ft so I can skip a bead chain and run a lure a little higher if I want which helps take a lot of bows and landlocks. There is about 18 inches of 15lb mono from bottom bead to the weight in the event of a hang up. At the top of the mono I have a bead that connects the mono to heavy dacron. Also can connect a jug here if I needed to. The 20ft into the Dacron there is another bead chain for a jug as well after that I have a few marks to help judge depth. That's just the way I was taught to do it from my dad which goes on to show how traditional the Seth green rig is and how everyone has there own twist. I run 5 10ft 12lb floro leaders but instead of using spring clips like most I use good locking snap swivels that go through the eye of the bead chain. But as I was saying about my rod vs dmargeits is that even though we have much different approaches with our rigs BOTH catch a lot of fish but for some reason that we have yet to figure out for some reason one day the braid will out do the mono and the next the mono will out do the braid

Hughes today

Yeah probably fairly slow and shifting out sideways but he def slammed it. Kicking myself for not turning around and working that water some more but having a 14fter miles from the launch as the lake was picking up a bit its better to be safe than sorry -
We run about 25yards and have no problem with running 3 lines per side with the closest rod to the boat still being out a good 10 yards at the least

Hughes today
suttontroller94 replied to suttontroller94's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
He hit a chartuese size 9 rapapla as my dad was sliding the a release down the board line. He had disengaged the clicker even though I told him not to trying to make it easier. The fish hit popped the release and put a bunch of backlash in the reel. He quickly put the clicker back on and the fish took a bunch of drag then went arial behind the boat. But it was to late the fish caught up with that backlash and was gone. Big brown we missed came on a size 11 blue and silver x rap. Only had one spoon bite all day -

Was a great day just wish we. Would've put that big brown and that salmon both in the boat. Really wasn't expecting to hit a salmon this early but when he hit and started screaming drag we knew we were in for it -
Hughes today

Been watching weather for weeks and today was finally a good day to take my 14ft boat out on the big lake with my father Launched a Hughes shortly after 7 trolled east for awhile and were instantly picking away at fish between 10-20fow turned around and trolled all the way to ginna with a steady pick of cookie cutters happening the whole way Then the fish started getting a little nicer with a couple around 6 or 7lbs. Hit a big brown fought it for a minute then dropped it and saw it on the surface. Had to be 12lbs at the least. Worked around ginna with no luck then wind picked up a bit so we decided to motor back. Half way between bear and pultneyville found an outstanding color and temp break so we stopped and tried to fish it going into the wind. Ended up losing another nice brown and a real nice salmon. Wind was to much to handle so we motored back to Hughes made 2 more passes and caught a few more fish. Ended the day 16 for 21. Most bites came on orange rapalas from size 7-11 both in scatter rap style and original floater but many other lures took fish. All and all great day on the water -
Beleive i Saw that boat today. He wouldn't make way for me in my 14ft boat and started to force me in. However I cut out quickly and caught 2 fish right off his bow

Looking for some opinions here on if clamp on riggers are going to work well for my 14ft aluminum it doesn't have gunwales and there is really no easy way to mount a board across the transom do to tiller positioning. Was thinking of getting a pair of Scotty 1050s with the clamp mount bases and mounting them off the sides about even with the rear bench seat. Was just wondering if those clamps are going to get down tight and be solid enough to hold a rigger with a 10lb ball 100ft or more down? Also does anyone have and experience with the Scotty 1050s they would like to share are they rugged enough for this? Everyone I have talked to says they love the Scotty electrics and I was hoping to get similar feedback about the manuals

For Trade Decoys for copper rods
suttontroller94 posted a topic in Classifieds - Buy, Sell, Trade or Rent
Spring is almost upon us I have 140+ screen printed snow goose tanglefree slammer socks and 12 outlaw snow goose silhouettes willing to trade for 2 high quality or 3 good quality copper set ups may also entertain Canada goose decoy offers. Slammer socks are in good condition most have never even been assembled. Some are missing a few of the rubber washers for assembly but can easily be replaced probably at no cost by calling the company. The socks retail for $699 alone plus the silhouettes are worth around $40
