  1. If anyone wants to try it let me know. Looks bitter cold tomorrow (Sunday) should be some good ice I would assume since its shallower then some lakes? Any input would be great Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. Anyone fish it? Is the ice safe? Never been ice fishing and would like to give it a try. I don't thing Cayuga is safe yet. Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. All the old timers that gave me tips say "it's to early yet". As for setups, every day its different. I haven't had the time in 2016 to do a lot of perch fishing on seneca due to boat issues, but spend enough time on shore wit the right guys, you'll get a few good tips. Best tip someone posted " keep your bait moving". Sometimes they only bite for 10 mins after fishing 6 hours. I second Lakebound. Nick seems to always have fish on the deck, but usually trout from what I've seen Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. State park will be to low. I bottom out in a canoe last year about 10 feet from the dock. By the locks maybe if you stick to the channel. I don't know about union springs Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. I was considering a side scan unit for pan fish during the summer. I heard they are not so great for trolling but are better for bass, and pike in 40ft and under? Will it work for perch and gills? My goal is to locate the school and drive past for a drift threw, hopefully saving some time locating fish, usually not that hard to find them but next year I'd like to start exploring other lakes besides Cayuga and Seneca. Thanks for any info. Mike Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. Guy fishing showed me his pole, had me reel it in. Those light actions you can feel everything. Future investment. Maybe if the fish start biting lol Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Thanks skate. They eye thing worked. Idk about keeping them alive. Casting further was impossible with line icing up Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Ill give it a try either this morning or tomorrow. I was using 3/4 oz or 1oz. Switched to a smaller sinker. Maybe the smaller sinker will make it so the sinker don't rip right threw them. Probably won't get much time this week with warm weather coming. Got keep a constant supply of firewood going. Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. Ok. Ill give it a try. Is there bait up at runnings? Might head that way for some Xmas shopping Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. Anyone got a few pointers to keeping them on when long casting? I think my sinker maybe to heavy? Using octopus #6 if I remember right with them hooked in the snout... Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. Ah. Yeah bit that was cold trip. No bait at the shops. Might have to go see if ithaca has some bait Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. How was the ice skating rink? I didn't try hoping the rain would help melt some of it... But so much for the rain and warm weather Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. Went 3 times this week, nothing. Pier and docks have thick ice. Won't be after today. Lots of weeds. Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. Yep, only my 2nd boat, first i/o. Learning experience. Sent from my XT1528 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. Yeah I hope not. I also have the cam from this other block, which I hope isn't a goner either. We got the tranny in last night, gotta deliver some wood, maybe tinker with it later. I gotta cut this one boat up and get out of here so I'll be taking the motor apart very soon and I'll take pictures of the crank and cam. I'm also going to end up finishing my bass boat project up after I get rid of this other fiber glass boat. I didn't give up on it.. Just this Star Craft was not suppose to be a project... I repeated my self many times. All I can say is I learned a lot. Sent from my XT1528 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. Transmission in my truck went. No boat for now. Give more updates once I get rolling again. I winterized it a week or so ago. I took a look at the bill and can get the bill down to about $1100 threw the shop. They had new can listed, new manifold gaskets, carb rebuild, stuff like that I've already done. Right now truck first then boat. Some nice weather we been having. Looking back threw Facebook I had a few nice days last year. I'm at the point where I need to check the cylinders to see if I need to have them bore out or not. Sent from my XT1528 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  19. Well, started taking the new motor apart... Found that one of the soft plugs had been replaced and had cracked the block... I got no luck... Not a total loss I guess... Got some new parts, new battery, and a heavy trailer I can use for work after some remodeling... I read you can probably jb weld or use Marine tech or something a long that lines... I don't really want to risk doing all the work for the motor just to break and I'm back to square one... Brand new boat from the dealer is looking better and better... Sent from my XT1528 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. Trailer is solid. Got a new battery out of it, one new tire on it. Couple screw drivers, less corroded blower covers, new hand rails, basically just newer shine stuff, I can sell the wind shield maybe. I got to go threw the out drive. Sludge came out but no aluminium chips. The one on my StarCraft had chips in it... Most likely from shifting at high idle? Haven't done much. Its been down pouring and we have had storm damage. The gauges on the dash are different, the manifold is different and the carb is different... Can I just change the manifold and the carb will switch? Looks like it. My carb has fresh rebuild Sent from my XT1528 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. I found one in Cortland with 328 hours we got that fired up. Had to take the whole boat Sent from my XT1528 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. Recently got this running. Got a video but not sure how to post Sent from my XT1528 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. Yep. 328 hours but I know this means little with a boat that's been sitting. Has new manifold but needs a elbow which I have brand new and bellows kit. Dump said $70 per ton to ditch the hull. Trailer is in good shape and had new tires. Going to get an alignment tool when it stops raining Sent from my XT1528 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. Thanks. Hopefully this works out. Don't seem to be that many 120s left out thereSent from my XT1528 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. Found this one last night. Looks like no body knew how to do points and condenser on it, plus stringers are gone. Kid kept trying to drive the price up but told him he don't know what's involved, cost, or time for just the fiber glass, much less cost of manifolds and riser...the word stringer and riser probably threw him for a loop... Got the boat trailer and motor for $500. Boats going in the dump, trailer is up for sale if anyone needs a 16' trailer. Getting an alignment tool after work and switching them over the weekend. Hopefully with two motors and 2 out drives I can make it last. Sent from my XT1528 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
