That it's fiber glass lol. Its been stored inside but I've rather have aluminum. I didn't get under it to look at the hull. There was to much stuff in the way It has the motor out already, and the floor felt soft. From the research if done so far... out sounds easier then in, plus either way it has to go to a shop to get the motor aligned. I don't mind a challenge but I already have one project going and another fiber glass project would be a nightmare... but it would always be better then new... I guess I should ask... what should I look for as in issues and positives. Might buy two boats, but ones and an OMC... not even sure what that means but he says that hasn't hit the water in 10 years...

I'm have no mechanical skills technically but I'm pretty sure if I had to do it I could. I was figuring around $4k for the hole job, $2k for motor, $1k for the shipping and another $1k for install. Is it worth it tho being fiber glass?

I looked at a 22ft sea ray today. It needed a new motor and out drive. Its fiber glass which makes me reconsider the whole idea in general of purchasing but looks like it's been stored well. Any idea how much New motor or Used motor is going to cost? They said a 350 went into it. Doesn't mean much to me because I don't know much about motors but learn very quick. I think I found one threw the dealer for around $2000 plus shipping but that seemed very low for a brand new motor... Thoughts are appreciated since the boat is cheap... but don't want another night mare project like my bass boat...

Like I said I'm a newbie. Thought it would be an easy fix but when I started reading into beams and stringers... I realized how much work I had a head of me... I'm taking it one step at a time... the hard part is about to begin. My biggest worry is getting the beams in right, fiber glasses in, and then the floor meets level with the top of the beams. Everything else shouldn't be to hard just tedious. I've got about 20hours in, figure by the end I'll be looking at 60 hrs worth of work... but it will float! LoL😎

Rails out, found the holes, time to clean, touch up few spots inside, then pressure wash the dust out. From there tape the outside? And drip some resin threw the crack? Grind to shape or just fiber glass over the outside then use the paste and feather away from crack then sand and paint, I'm also going to put a piece of fiber that goes width of the stringer slot to act like a stitch. Any idea where to get bulk fiber and resin? This boat had a manufacture defect in it. They didn't stick resin on the fiber sides that held the main beams in which made them shift, causing a crack that let water in, causing the wood to rot... Glad I didn't buy it brand new lol. She will be like New soon.

Question: water levels on Owasco, Skan and Cayuga

Might get another spring like this year. Water levels 2 ft or more higher then normal... Like I been telling people, we didn't get the cold and snow until after Christmas. Now that it's over... oh we get some snow and cold with more coming this weekend. Have to give the ice fishing a try the year -
I'm complete newbie to this. I watched a buddy mix up a couple batches and he did have all the mats cut. I imagine I can do it after watching him. Just sounded like their might been a different proxies that cured a bit slower. Those 2x4 are a bit big. I'll grab some pics tomorrow. The main beams are T shaped wrapped plywood with a layer of U shaped fiber glass. Everything is made out of plywood in this boat... either because lighter or like rolmops said the plys give it flex and strength. Either way bringing it back to manufacture design will be easiest since the wood will sit right in the slots I took it out of. Down to just the beams. Kind a excited! Just gotta get a motor lift to lift the bow off the trailer to get s grind on the bottom and touch up some of the inside and I'll be ready to get her put back together!

Ha! Mine was built out of 1x1 pieces of plywood untreated. Same with the everything else in it. Buddy suggested locusts but ifs heavy and stiff and I don't have any that is dry and readily available. I'm going to do two layers of epoxy like someone suggested. After I fix this one I'm looking at another boat that's bigger. Listed as needs new floor... I said Oh Boy... another guy trying to get one over on me... Just the floor could be another gutting. Maybe I can get the price down.

Dean's cove is ok. Was muddy Sunday so I couldn't see how deep but two weeks ago I made it out Seneca best chance is Sampson or out the park. -

Thanks. I'll give it a look. I gotta go to Barrett and pick his mind about the fuel leak. I don't know if it's even a leak from the sounds of it that older 60hp Mercurys seem to just have extra gas come out the carb if you leave the fuel line on... always gotta wipe up a bit before launching but other then that motor run a great... I'll get my fiber and resin from there so I know I get the right stuff

Are you sure your talking about the right resin? Maybe I used the wrong stuff last time? It heated up so hot last time you could light a small stick on the "puck" of left over resin in the bottom of the plastic cup we were using. Looks like I'll have to find a warm garage to do the rest. Fun Fun. I'll get some pictures today of the progress since it's not raining so bad. Yesterday it was too muddy lol
