    I would suggest the itroll also. It is infinately adjustable unlike the others which allows you precisely dial in your speed if you want to. It is very well built and very easy to install. I heard the customer service is great if you ever need it. I have had mine for 4 years and have had zero issues and I use it a lot. In regards to the hunt mode, you get a free trail period with it when you buy the unit. I tried using it and it works well but you can not adjust it in the fly which I did not like so I did not purchase the feature at the end of the trial period.     You should run your mag divers inside closer to the boat. The regular divers should be run outside and higher than the mags. Same rule applies for leadcore and copper lines.     Used shakespeare 5' tall antenna. It was used for 2 years on my boat that is garage kept. It's in like new condition other than I cut the antenna cord to about 6' long when I installed it. I have the pl 259 connector that goes with it also. 60.00 shipped

    They had rebates on the Yamaha's when I bought mine so I went with F200. If you are fishing Erie or Ontario i would have them replace the 60" shaft with the 72" right now.     I have 2 lowrance hds units on my boat. One is mounted on the dash and the other is mounted near the back of the boat, connected by an ethernet cable, so that they can share waypoints and transducers. The front unit is usually on the chart screen for navigation and the rear is on the regular fish finder screen. They both have their own transducer but are set up to run off of the same transducer.     The rod with the splice of mono is only so I can use it on an inline. Its backed with 19 strand so that I can run it as a chute rod if I choose to and also serves as a backup to the other rod without the splice.     I asked them the same question last year and got the same response. Like you, I was also looking to see if anyone had actually tried the setup but have not heard anyone that actually has. The only reponses I got were people telling me it wouldn't work. I tried copper once and didn't like it, especially with newbies on the boat. I tried the steel and it is much easier to use and works well. I totally understand the reasoning of the guys that have already invested in and know how to run copper, I would not make switch either.     I have two 200' weighted steel setups backed with 19 strand. One of the setups I spliced in a 5' section of 40lb mono in between the steel and 19 strand so that I could clip on an inline board. The other setup is the same minus the mono section which I run down the chute . Both work well and both catch fish. I primarily fish on Erie for eyes and the chute rod works great when the eyes are deep. 2 years ago I ran that chute rod out 450ft on the line counter and was picking up eyes that were down around 70ft. I had my riggers, dipseys and chute rod all in the same zone and they were all firing so I am assuming the steel was at or near the same depth of everything else.     I think the OP and I are talking about the unique situation with us using specifically 19 strand wire for backing and not braid to take advantage of the sink rate of the weighted steel. I currently have a splice of 50 lb mono between my weighted steel and wire backer to clip the board to but then I lose the benefit of letting out more backer to have the 200 steel run deeper. Has anyone tried using a rubber band on 19 strand wire to clip into the offshore release? I'm thinking that the 19 strand will kink in either case whether you put it in the release itself or try to use a rubber band to clip in the release, hoping someone has already tried it.     You are using inlines correct? I have offshore boards with the or 18 release on the front but I'm sure the 19 strand will still slip through and kink even with the upgraded release. So if I'm understanding correctly the wire backer is sitting just outside the release jaws and only the rubber band is being pinched? Thanks.     The 5' per color sink rate is correct for around 2.0 mph. At 2.5 mph the sink rate is less, around 37 ft deep for 10 color if I remember correctly. Some guys will add a 2oz snap weight on the 5 color to get it deeper with more backing out. I'm sure the 5 color would sink a little deeper with just more backing out but it wont keep the same sink rate as plain lead core and you would just be guessing at what depth it would be running at.
