    There is another technique guys use called S-Biner Dipseys. Just make a loop in you wire or braid and clip a small S-Biner clip to it.

    The WaterWolf is an inline camera that you can clip onto your fishing line. It's really the way to go if you just want to watch fish strikes. The GoPro on a rigger is better for watching more than one line or filming structure, but when a fish strikes sometimes it's just a silver blur and they're gone. It's actually more fun watching the fish that swing and miss as they usually stay in the field of view and try again.

    I use mine with a similar torpedo housing down past 100' on Lake Michigan. Not sure if you have enough light to go that deep on Lake O. I also have extra torpedo housings if anyones interested. My avatar is a screen capture of a King that was checking out my camera.

    That is a standard nipple. Looks like black pipe to me and definitely not something you want to mount your mast with. It will rust out quickly, and the threads aren't very strong even when new. I think the previous owner just put that in there as an idea, but your mast looks like it will accept a pipe size which is bigger in diameter than that 3/4" nipple, and I would bet the original mount had an aluminum post that inserted into the female end of your mast. If you can't locate an original mount, you should consider finding a metal fabricator and have him make a simple flange with an aluminum post welded to it that will fit fairly snuggly into the base of your mast. It should be fairly inexpensive for them to do and they may have an even better solution for you. When you mount the flange, make sure to use a good backer plate as well.

    The pressure that builds inside the probe is from the gas that can be produced by the batteries inside. I don't think it can happen though unless you used 2 different batteries or 2 batteries that are unequal in charge, and I don't think it's possible if there's only 1 battery like my Cannon or Depth Raider probes. I always open my probe and disconnect the battery after fishing anyway because I think it's a good practice. Batteries can explode...

    Very nicely done! That's some crazy good Brown Trout fishing right there. Is that typical or just a lucky day for Sodus in April? I can see how you lost a rod with your bunched up rod holder placement at the back of the boat. You seem to orchestrate it quite well in that fast action though! Those smaller Browns are some of the scrappiest fish, pound for pound. Thanks for sharing the video, and nice job putting the kids on some exciting fishing!

    Willis knot doesn't work with micro lead because the sheath of the leadcore is too small to accept the mono. In this case I use the double uni. For standard leadcore the Willis knot is ideal.

    I figured 5 color on 30 and 7 color on 40. That's what my plan was but also thought I may be able to get 7 colors of micro on a 30.

    Hey Capt. Rich, I am guessing you are using 27# micro lead for your 7c on a size 30 Saltist. Is that correct? What brand leadcore are you using? Thanks!

    Sometimes when the fish are up high I do better with short setbacks from my boards, which is tough to do with snap weights. I prefer keel sinkers that also work to stop my released inline boards from sliding down to the fish. Snap weights are difficult when fishing solo too, and there are times when I want my spoons to be right under the surface, no deeper. Tiny split shot, rubber core, and keel sinkers can be run closer to the spoon to accomplish this whereas I typically like to use snap weights further up the line so a hooked fish isn't right behind the boat when unclipping the snap weight. If you already own a bunch of snap weights then give them a try, but otherwise there are cheaper ways to skin the rabbit than buying expensive releases and risking losing them to a snag or break-off, IMHO.

    Cleos and KO wobblers. I use the 2/5 oz. Cleos and the 1/2 oz. Wobblers mostly. Orange and Gold, Gold, Wonderbread, and Red/Gold are productive colors for me. The slowest possible retrieve while still getting a wobble from your spoon works best most days.

    Jimski2, This is your best post ever! I totally agree with you on everything you said. That bill is crazy and will never pass, but sounds like you guys over there need to start gearing up for more of this nonsense...scary stuff.
