You can catch smallies consistently in Lake Ontario if you fish structure. The best spots are the water pipes. Look on a map to find the general location, use side imaging to pinpoint the pipes and fish them with drop shots and those small dropshot plastics. Right now where I fish they have been in 12 to 14 feet of water.

I would throw a spinnerbait or jerkbait to target bass or the monster pike that inhabit Oak Orchard. Funnny I caught a gar trolling a thunderstik at nite fishing for walleyes on the lower part of the Oak.

Port Bay on East side narrows had 8 inches of clear ice followed with 3 inches of white ice on top over 20 feet of water. No issues where I was and the drag from the South boat launch was a breeze. Saw 3 or 4 machines on the ice. For every 4 or 5 dinks you had 1 keeper.

Victor Bass Pro Does anyone know when the Victor Bass Pro is suppose to open?

Any of the bays along Lake Ontario this summer may offer very unique bass fishing since all the docks are under water. During normal water levels, its hard to beat Sodus because the bay has a lot of different structure.

What about Pier 1 or whatever its called now? I could park the trailer in front of my cottage.

Thanks. It's too bad. The North Launch has easy access to the lake. The south launch is quite a distance at idle speed.

There are conflicting reports on if it's truly the end of Gander Mountain. The new boss seems to be contradicting what is actually being said by Gander Mountain. It sort of sounds like our Federal Government.

For emergencies is the range greater than several miles since the coast guard has antennaes that are maybe 50 feet high?

I drove down yesterday to check height of the water and was amazed that the wooden docks were not there. Are planning in putting in the new floating docks? I would also not be surprised if the state puts in a ticket machine for parking because they are the state (money grabbers).

What size rapalas for spring bowns I have a lot of thindersticks and jr thundersticks, but if I was to switch to original floating rapalas, then what size is appropriate for spring browns? Also are the thundersticks and jr thundersticks too big?

I updated my electronics last year fromLowrance units that are now 10 years old to Garmin 73 and 93 Echomaps. I used the Garmin units right out of the box with very little learning curve.One unit is on the bow and the other is at the helm. I do run mine split screen. They are also able to run panoptix, but the price for that feature is steep. To answer your question is what is on your dreamlist for featues: Is it side imiging, better maps, ability to create your own maps, larger screen, down imiging? If those features you want (Garmin Echomaps are not touch screen) then get a new unit. I still use my lowrance ice fishing
