Not a deer but ... Man it was so loud this morning it was unreal. Kicked up deer every step I took. On the walk to my stand I saw a deer in the field that got chased by a coyote. Then a small scrub buck at the bottom of my stand as I walked up. Thinking the morning might get good. Then at 9 I had the nicest looking dog I ever seen walk by 90 yards. Hunted some big water today. Man should have stayed home. Saw a total of 18 ducks from 640 to 900. First duck was a flock of 14 divers , then 2 mergs, and 2 mallards . 1 that came in. Nice going !! Had a nice hunt lined up for this morning but got beat to it.... By 4 other groups. That guy's farm is like state land. So we did plan B went to the farm pond and made good for what came in . Crazy wind and snow . Wish we would have stayed a bit longer but always tomorrow. Quick hunt this morning . No birds on the lake that I tried today. Horrible, absolutely horrible. That's what u get when u don't scout a spot before u hunt it. Made it out to the farm pond . Had some nice size flocks come in today. Tried to just shoot green but there's always that 1 guy with tunnel vision. Only saw 2 blacks today , lost them on the turn as they set in for landing. Buddy's dog got the taste of cold but we had the heater in the shed for her. Did a solo mission this morning and it ended quick . To cold to be messing around. Had a flock of 12 or so mallards land in the decoys and I water swatted 2 blacks then doubled on 2 Drake's then a Drake with the last shot. 5 birds 3 shots. And if someone shoots a spike good for them tagged out , won't see them for the rest of the year. No reason to tell the 1 weekend or 1 day a year guy what he has to kill.
