Plan A was frozen this morning so had to go to plan B. When we got there that was also frozen over. I cut a big circle in the ice with the kayak , then slid the sheet I cut under the ice . Them ducks love the spot we cut out . Very little float ice makes them finish . Had a GWT come by and got cartwheeled . Along with a few blacks. Limit of mallards. That's not good about your ducks but nice job on that bander. This morning i got 2 mallards and 2 geese. Lots of mallards around here . Soon as 1 landed in a spot not huntable it was tough to complete so I left. I did see 3 shovelers couple Widgeon, and pintail . But no luck on them just out of range. Had a good day at the farm pond . Had a push of ducks come in !! 200 mallards came in before legal , then had to pick away at them the rest of the morning. Also had a lost butter ball show up. Tried to hunt a field today but got beat to it. Went home got duck decoys and went to the pond. Only had a 3 pack and a pair of Woodies come in . Sorry lots of work ! Well, I got in to the stand at 345. On the way in I bumped 2 does . At 445 1 of the does came back in . It was a fawn doe. She hung out for awhile then I look behind me and see a basket 8 . He goes in the swamp for 10 min then ends up coming by my stand at 20 yards chasing her. Then I hear more noise where the 8pt came from and all I saw was rack in the thicket. Now the doe is 10 yards away and the 8pt 25. They are both froze and watch the big 8 come in . I know this Buck is bigger than the basket so decide to take him . He stops 20 yards broad side . Perfect lung shot he went 40 yards and fell over as I thought. That basket rack went looking for that deer 4 times before walking off. I have had tons of chasing and grunting action the past 4 days . Good luck to all and those who punched already.
