downrigger releases
Smoke-N-Finn replied to Ohreelyfishing's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Change to Chamberlain's, Superior release , can Crank rods to water and also set release so a perch can release it if you want it that light. For Kings I crank them almost all the way, lakers about half. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

50 lb test for fleas
Smoke-N-Finn replied to Garyf's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Fleas usually aren't super thick where I fish, quick snap of tip sends them flying. I never had break-offs from fish just faulty equip, like cracked eye inserts. I'm all about the lightest drag possible. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -
50 lb test for fleas

No I mean the guy who has to hold the plastic knife, I use 20# all the time. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -
Or point the rod tip where you want it to go. With all boards, many people try to fight the board. The board is putting the tension on the fish so having your rod tip up is useless. Point it at the water where you want the board to go, get it close, lift take off, FIsh On!! Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

They will run right against to within a foot of your hull . I never tie the backs, I run mine off my front cleats and they are straight out from my divers, say 2/3-3/4 back. Never in the way. Best way to measure is wait till you are on the water. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Drift socks are not trolling bags. A drift sock will last maybe a year, mist are made of nylon and are made to slow you down DRIFTING. Trolling bags are made from much beefier materials. Yes you should have a pair. Can't imagine even trying to troll alone with one out. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Just got Coleman Extreme 6 Marine 120. Stainless hinges, no clasps to break, ruler and Drink holders x4. 68.88 on Walmart.com. believe it was $72 with tax, free shipping . I like much better than my Igloo 150 that I had to replace all hinges and closures because of inferior junk on a heavy cooler. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Get the Single Axis for Dipseys, no loosening. Not as much movement as doubles, but for Dipseys they are awesome. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Totally going to depend on how much you let out. Lead core is fat with much more resistance. You can use 19 strand in place of lead core if you want and you can put inline on it without damage. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

You got it Joe, my pops was a logger for 40+ yrs. Took chain out of package for his saw and grab the file, would say "ain't even close to sharp enough" The saw is supposed to do the work not you. Kinda same theory with hooks, one many people overlook. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

If the fish isn't hooked up by the time you get that rod in your hand, a big tug sure isn't going to help. I use Chamberlain releases so can crank my rods way down, sure helps with hookups, . Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
