I'm hoping that you mean your bait cooler caught fire, because we dragged meat all morning with nothing but one swing and a miss!Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
The mag with big ring and heavy weight. And the 001 with ring. Both getting hit. Mag did the most. Probably 80 to 90 down. Usually where i hit bottom when fishing kings on big O. Fish were marking 30 to 130 down. 90 down on a rigger with flasher fly took one too. Chrome and green spinny and hammer fly. Also a protroll fish and chip green with mirage fly. We hit them tonite pretty good. In the middle, 350 fow, north troll 2.4 mph or so. Wire divers 220' out with flasher flys did most. Got 3 keeper land lock 2 throw backs a keeper bow and an 8 lb laker. Kids dropped 3. Between 3p and 6p. Kids had a blast, was pretty steady action.

Yup, i have 45 acres of just woods and the taxes are about a 1/3 of that. Would have been way cheaper for me to lease that and have 10 times the land.

If any one figured out how to tickle the salmons fancy, please share. We got one 25lb saturday and a 15 sunday with one swing and a miss both days. 90 to 120 big marks all over the bottom. Lots of followers, just not much for takers. All hits on meat dragged behind the wire divers.

You ain't doing it right if you ain't tanglin! Thats the only way to learn what not to do. 21" to 24" off an 8" flasher. Dipsy's lead, copper and meat catch fish for me. I wouldnt leave the dock with out my wire divers. If it wasn't for the fishhawk, I would leave the riggers home. Change direction and speed if nothing is going on. I can't tell you how many doubles we gave gotten when we hook up then drop the speed off to barely moving.

I say Congrats! Nice catch and a day that kid will never forget. If keeping them was a problem the state would make it catch and release. Fishing is not the only reason they stock them. They are predators that the state can use to control other species without introducing another problem. I appreciate your posts Justin, It's always nice to not only see what one catches, but how they did it too.

I run snubbers. Rarely lose a fish on the wire with them. I did have a big sreamer break a hook earlier this year even with a snubber. I've tried without but prefer snubbers. I use the Cabelas dipsey rods which are a bit stiff compared to others.

It was rough, may have just lost sight of the person. Or what they saw wasn't a person. Kinda weird no missing person report. Coulda been Nessy!

The kids and I did well on keeper atlantics. Ended up with 5 of them and a couple lakers. All in all went 11 for 13 in three hours. All of them hit the wire divers 200' out green flashers and green flies. We were in the middle 350 to 400' of water. North troll AES to Sheldrake.

Had a good morning last saturday, 27 lbs, shortly after had another one on that was just as big but came un-buttoned after he screamed out 300'. Big waves sunday, REALLY big waves. Lasted 4 hrs with no fish before we headed back to the dock. Big green protroll with green chrome meat rig on the wire 225' out and a white/green dot spinny with pro am fly 100' rigger. Sounded like every one was picking some up in the morning.
