After deliberating all week I finally decided to make the drive up last night after work for a day trip. Met two good fishing buddies at the oak. We ended up going 5 for 5. Two nice footballs and three small kings. The bite was pretty tough tho most of the day accept for about 2 hours mid day. Water temp is still 47 ish in most areas we trolled. Hit a couple pockets on 50-53 where we picked up our strikes. Big brown took a white glow dw spoon. All others were on bay rats of no particular color. They all took a different stick . Where to go?

Never mind it's another 40 min or so than sodus bay is for me. That's doable. What's the perks of going there ? I've only fished as Far East as olcott Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United -

I've heard that. Couple posts about wilson and olcott seemed to lead me to believe that they were launchable. Minus the junk floating around. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United -

I just bought a 20 ft starweld last year. Basically the old smoker craft that's now being produced by Starcraft. It's a solid boat. They get tossed around a little easier than a fiberglass but I think the positives out weigh the negatives. My only complaint on my bot is the gunnels are thin. I had to back them up with 2 inch wood to stop as much flexing as I could to run riggers straight out the side. The rears seem much more sturdy tho. This will be my first year running 4 riggers out of it so I expect some modifications still to be made. Good luck and tight lines Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

So if you were towing the boat up for your first trip of the year for a mixed bag from browns to lakers and you had your choice between the oak ,olcott or sodus what would you favor right now? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Thanks carl. I'll be sure to do so once I get everything up and running again in the next few weeks. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Thanks guys. I fish anywhere from 6ft deep in the rivers locally to 400+ deep on Lake 0 in good weather. I will have to check the transducer to make certain but I have more than one as well. I also have the down scan and side scan options. What your saying makes sense tho. I never took it off shallow water while fishing lake o last year or Lake Erie for that matter. This is my first Lake trolling boat and my first high end sonar setup. So I'm dealing with the growing pains I guess you could say. Thank you all for your input. I will hopefully be making my first trip to lake o in the next couple weeks. I will be sure to apply some of this Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Does anyone here have experience with the lowrance HDS 7 units. I'm struggling to fine tune it so that I can effectively mark fish. I've tried a few YouTube videos but still can't seem to find a concrete pattern of marking actual fish. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

So we got blanked at olcott today. My buddy landed 3 out of the ok Sunday. We're debating weather or not to go to the oak or niagara. Any thoughts ? We had fish jumping around us all morning till noon but they wouldn't eat anything at olcott Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

I'm planning on running spoons, flashers with fly's and squids, and possibly j plugs if I get some in time. Will these work for all species of salmon and trout? They were productive in spring but I've never fished the fall bite yet Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
