Yeah , I hear there is a lot of oil reserves in central Canada . The problem is they can't get it efficiently to the southern states that border the Gulf of America( love that ) so it can get refined and supply the world so supply and demand could drive the price down . Maybe somebody could put a pipeline in to take care of that . Just a thought . And when prices spiked early in the Biden term ,pushing big solar and wind , didn't Joe hit up the strategic oil reserves ( brilliant move ) to lower prices and we were looking to Venezuela and other to recoup that . Green new deal? No gas cars in California in a few years and no gas stoves in NY ? Please .

Kathy will certainly make a lot of money from this in tickets and fines. I am sure she will use that money well .

Man that sucks gas went up .Price of fishing just went up . Call me crazy , and I don't know if this is even possible . But here me out in this . I know it's nuts . But how about we try , with all the oil reserves this country has , we try , just try, to become energy independent. That way we keep the money in this country instead of giving it to our advisarys. But that's probably just crazy talk . I don't think even Trump could pull that off .

Trump is trying to give Putin a way out and be able to save at least some face . He doesn't deserve to but if it ends this needless war that is costing us a fortune it will be worth it . Trump is stroking Putins ego . Trying to make a deal . And besides , what is the alternative? Keep up this farce of a war that should have never happened and waste more money and lives for pretty much the same ending ?

Actually Gator it's not in the end where we will hunt and fish . It's about survival , and living the best life you can . Being self employed and a half step from retirement I sacrificed a lot to provide for my family and invest in my future . I have no guaranteed pension or retirement plan . I have had good years and bad years business wise . Had to tighten my belt more than once to get by n sometimes was up nights worrying about it . Now some that figured they were immune to any cuts that are now thrust upon them are not happy . Well , that's life. I Want my investments and the Social Security ( I pay all 15.5 % where employers pay half of employees) I paid in and was guaranteed to be there which they are now moving the goal posts . There are many out there that have no clue where the money to fund all this stuff comes from . They think it just magically appears and is always going to be there . Still no answers as to where the money to pay the debt will come from . Certainly with all the smart people on here there are some studies , or charts , or graphs to show us . Don't worry Gator , there will always be fish to catch. They might not be what you want , but there will be something . And who knows . If the SHTF, we might have to eat them , along with a woodchuck I shot . Redneck surf and turf

The country is going through a financial intervention IMO . Trump said everyday on the campaign trail he was going to do it,won in a LANDSLIDE ,and he is fulfilling his promise . Most Americans don't want their money going for condoms , transgenders or the Muppets in Gaza when we need it here . Things are changing and it may hurt . Any of the brainiacs on here know where the money to pay off the debt will come from ? What really makes my day is watching the panelists on TV and others , who freak out ,hate Trump , and can't seem to come to grips that the Dems lost . And what's even better , if you can call it that, is they are too close minded to see why . Ah yes, TDS is a real thing . During the pandemic , I don't think they did any lamprey treatment . And it's my understanding we contract that out to Canada . And the fishing was pretty good this year .

37 trillion in debt . What's the interest on that ? Where is that money coming from ? I can't seem to get an answer on that . Probably because nobody wants to accept the fact it's us . Both parties spent with no regard for fiscal responsibility. This is not a political issue . It's an American issue . 40 k employees fired , quit or whatever . At 150 k ( probably way more when you factor everything in ) with benefits , retirement , payroll taxes and comp . That's 6 billion+ . That my friends is the issue . Who will be the first one caught with their hand in the cookie jar ?

Excuse me , but how many trillions is this country in debt ? And where is all this money to pay it off supposed to come from ? Print some more money ? Borrow more from China ? At some point the interest on the debt will be more than the country brings in in taxes . Then what? This country for to long has thrown money at problems without addressing the reason for the problems . And a lot of people are getting rich from it . And finally someone took some initiative to maybe save us from financial ruin . And it's probably going to hurt for a while . Private businesses go under every day and employees are fired or layed off with nothing but unemployment . Gov workers furloughed are getting 8 months severance pay . And if they are qualified , they should have no problem finding other employment . How does this affect our fishing? When we HAVE to cut , guess what will be first . The DEC lamprey folks were not real helpfull . I would think that a treatment schedule has been set for when and where a while back before all this . I expect better .

All of this is the direct result of unchecked corruption and pork barrel spending gone unchecked for decades . The country is in debt up to it's eyeballs because of it and now every dime has to be scrutinized and pinched to get it under control . And yes , we may loose funding for some of the things we love ,but thats what happens . I really don't think some of you guys know and understand where the money to fund the national and state budgets comes from . That convict thing really didn't work out to well . How much did all that cost taxpayers ? There's your carp money right there most likely . And who were the real convicts in that situation ? I talked to the DEC lamprey booth people at the Niagara show and asked them if Sandy in Hamlin was going to get treated this year . They did not know and couldn't tell me and directed me to some website . Now don't you think that if you were at a show like that , you would prepare yourself to answer a simple question like that ? And I'm supposed to have confidence they are doing the right thing ?

The way we have been doing things the last let's say 30 years isn't working . Or at least it is making the country go broke . The Gov is excessively bloated .A lot of people are getting rich making bad deals that don't help American citizens . Can't keep coming to the taxpayers or borrowing to fund this stuff. When Gov decides to invest in projects , it needs to get a return on investment in some way . Take our Lake Ontario fishery . The money it puts out to build and maintain the hatchery , it's staff and to monitor and maintain the lake need to generate enough tax revenue to sustain it , which I think it does . We have a football stadium we funded ( and I have me thoughts on that ) will it do the same ? I don't think my sister in laws dept will be cut anytime soon . It's pretty important . And her job isn't hiring ,and she would fire most of these clowns this morning . Also in 1979 we were ranked #1 in the world in education . Then the Dept of Education( which should have been named Dept of indoctrination and social engineering) was formed . We spend more on education than any country and are ranked # 40 now . And somehow , that's nobody's fault . Also hiring should be done on merit . Not by the other crap that has been going on . Ask the air traffic controllers for one . Charts ,graphs , statistics etc ,etc ,by highly educated people that think they know better are why we are in this F...n mess . Absolutely no common sense . Hopefully after the Fed audit ,which was long overdue , things will get better .

I have a relative that is a big shot and works for the Federal gov and she is close to retirement . My wife and I went down for the inauguration and stayed with her . I get to talk to her whenever I see her and look forward to it as she is what most would call and insider along with her life long friend who stays with her . Interesting conversation to say the least . Anyway ,she said that when she started in her area there were 32 employees . There are now close to 350 . I asked her what all these people do . She said a lot of nothing and mostly ,they give away money . I'm not giving details here . But that's a big part of the problem IMO. Running a business with employees for a very long time, making payroll is tough sometimes . In her area alone that's 300 + more paychecks with benefits and all costs associated with it . At let's say 150k a year (probably more ) and according to my math that's 45 with an M , million. And that just one dept . Then there is retirement when they retire and they probably make as much when they retire as when they work. Multiply that by every single part of the Federal gov and that more than just a drop in the bucket . Many Fed employees almost demanded that they be able to work from home when told to report to the office . Nice work if you can get it . The people , whoever they are , who decide who , how many , and at what pay rate they hire these people most likely and I don't know, never ran a business . A lot of these hires are ( and I kind of know this ) friends , family or campaign workers of winning candidates , and more than likely as we have seen woefully qualified . It took two succesfull business people that lived with profit and loss to finally look into and attempt to cut the blatent fat . Thank God for a news outlet that shows us everyday examples of this or we would never know .

The highest avg incomes are a 10 mile radius around Washington DC . We are getting robbed blind . Everyday we here of more crazy stuff our tax dollars go to . Who would even entertain the idea of giving money to some of these projects and why ? We all know why . It's taking a billionaire to finally let this stuff see the light of day . This is what an overwhelming majority of Americans voted for . I say go for it . And let the chips fall where they may . Even Louis Farrakhan ( and I'm not a fan ) said the country is broke and we are living on credit cards .

I really don't know much about this BUT Every dime that the gov spends on any and everything should be scrutinized . We the taxpayers have thought a lot of the hard earned money we send in is going to places that are of American interest and my inclination is that a good amount is going into people's pockets . Think about the amount of tax dollars spent every year and it's never enough and in the past no one was accountable for it .
