X2 on the riggers for Small boat tactics I took a drive to look at a job on the lake west of Shadagee . Chocolate milk out to 20 ft of water . It will probably be like that for a while Perfect time for big bright stick or body baits with a lot of wobble and rattles . The fish can't hit what they can't see . -
You need to know the dive rate of what you use so they don't snag up Also divers need to be well tuned to run correctly. We caught a lot of fish back in the day fishing like this . Great small boat set up . I would run two stickbaits off my downriggers 1 each 75 to 125 back , and 2 divers Longlined back 175 to 225 or off boards . This was before lead core , slide divers etc.
-
Use bigger brighter stickbaits in the dirty water . Once you get out to the 20 to 50 ft range , put some diving plus like a spoonbill rebel or similar on boards . I do this once in a while with good results . I see some nice baits at the store I think would shine . Some of the Shady Raps or Tail dancers would get down 20 to 30 ft.

So to clarify , when you fish in the colored water in 6 to 10 ft you are catching fish . Then for some reason you decided to move deeper out of the colored water and you don't catch fish . Shouldn't that tell you something ? The fish are in the colored water . The first rule of this type of fishing is you don't leave fish to find fish .

Rapala clean up and hardware replacement

Use light steel wool to buff them up LIghtly if they need it . Then spray with lacquer . They come out great . Good for spoons also . On the Original straight F series a short shank round hook . On Jointed , I use an Eagle claw L 374 same size as what came off . Watch out for the split rings as some can be junk and not hold up . Be carefully to not get to big as it will ruin the balance of the bait . -

If I added up all the money I have spent on fishing in my lifetime , I could own a nice house and a sports car . And have money left over . I figure every time I go out , everything included , equipment , rods reels lures electronics, boat, registration, insurance, boat maintenance, gas for truck And boat ,etc , costs me 60 to 300 per trip . And I'm probably underestimating. So don't kid yourself. So that salmon fillet is cheap in comparison. I,don't think this is entirely about control as it is politicians covering their ass . They had to do something , the number of dead prove that . For those that think it is just about control , I hear there is a,sale on tin foil hats on Amazon.

N.Y. announces marinas can open as long as,social distance rule are followed According to Orleans Hub and hr ago .

Also ,it is against the Law to have alcohol in a state park . But we all know a lot have it as do the park police . If you are being discreet , they won't bother you . If you get crazy , they can use that law to throw you out or press, charges . Maybe the same mindset is,being used with this . If you launch alone and follow guide lines , they leave you alone . If not ,they ticket you .
-
A guy who sits on the bank with a couple bobber rods might be fishing for food . A guy who shows up at the launch with 40 k + tied up in equipment is not fishing to feed his family . The gas used for that outing could feed a family for up to a week . So that argument is silly ,at best . What , like 13000 death from this virus . This is not ALL about control .
-
The wife read an article last night that there are counties that are most vulnerable now . Orleans county is one of them . So all we need now is a truck load of guys from an affected area to come up here and start the chain reaction . How far is a safe distance ? Seems like that would be common sense now . All public and private launches , marinas , lodging, restaurants , tackle shops, etc are closed . So that alone should say something . Again , I don't agree with a lot of this , but I'm not a health expert . So I defer to them . A little patience .

I have no problem with the out of staters coming up here fishing. And I know about the constitutional right for travel . But as I said , if someone travels long distances to fish at this time , they are arrogant or an idiot , or both . And they should know better. This is why I tell My son the political science major and libertarian his way won't work and we,need laws . It's based on people doing the right thing . And their are always a few that won't , will say "F " everyone else , it's my right to do what want .
-
Anyone who travel s from another state , or a long way to fish anywhere , even if it's not N.Y. ,at this point of time is an arrogant idiot . With no care for those around them . Stay in your own region till it has been deemed safe . Fish local . I don't agree with some of this stuff , but considering the consequences . I am going along with it . Last thing I want to do is make someone , or many people dire sick .
-
And especially if these clowns are from out of state .
-
What is going to get them closed is a boat load of morons showing up and launching their boat ,getting on board with no masks and law enforcement such as the boarder patrol or Coast Guard seeing it .
