  1. I have an 86 Merc . I had a lot of carb issues with it . I put ethanol gas before we knew we should not use it . It disintegrated the hoses and tiny pieces got in the jets . Gas was dripping from the bottom of the carb . I had it rebuilt by Bruce and it ran great . It happened about 5 more times after that as I think particles were in the lines . I had the carb off that many times to clean it out . I would spray WD 40 into the carb and dump it out on a paper towel and find small sand grain size pieces of plastic . I finally put a small fuel filter just ahead of the carb and one see thru on the tank fuel line . Problem solved .
  2. My brother who is influential in Orleans county said he has pushed to keep the county boat launch open in a text to me today . He also said that the state has not closed theirs yet and they are waiting to be instructed as to when to close the county launch . The way I see it , the longer this goes , the less of a chance for it to close . So cross your fingers .
  3. Atomic T 41 behind a double crush glow white Spin Dr .
  4. Maybe it's time for all of the guys who travel to get back to their fishing roots and fish In their local waters . I'm quite sure their is some sort of fishing for stream trout or sunfish close by . Wet a line and appreciate the fact you are healthy and can at least go
  5. One of the best reels ever produced
  6. Don't be fooled With politicians, especially at high levels , everything is political .
  7. I know that the guidelines in place are probably working . Here is my question When we are told it is safe to come out , if there is no vaccine , I still have just as much of a chance to get the virus , correct ? It's not like it's just going to go away . So in reality we are not safer , just prolonging what may be the inevitable . If that is the case , then this must be being done so that the health care system won't be overrun . But I think we were told that .
  8. I dumped my boats at Sandy yesterday mid day . A boarder guy drove up and parked , watched me launch , and left .
  9. I'm not blaming anyone . And what is being done is probably necessary to some degree . But look at the results of what is being implemented now . Looks a little like what you see in socialist or communistic nations.
  10. So for all you Bernie or Van Jones fans , here is a small taste of how it will go in a socialist , or communistic gov . Told what you can and can't do , where you can go . A good portion of the population dependent on the Gov for their next paycheck . Hard to get food / etc. Lots of fun , ain't it .
  11. Only takes 5 min to close them . I figure all of a sudden , the gates will be chained . IMO it's a matter of time , just like the high water .
  12. Just got off the phone with someone influential who told me that all the boat launches will be closed soon . Said they got a call from the state to close down and Gov said to shut them down . Orleans county was fighting to keep them open but were told to shut them down .
  13. Is Sandy open ? Was going to dump my small boat tommorow .
  14. Someone lost a,very nice and expensive net . I would guess a bass guy . I found one a few years back and put it on here . And it got back to its rightful owner And get this . I saw what I think was the cowl off a Honda outboard today in the weeds about 1 mile or so south of the thruway int the northbound lane of 390 .
  15. It can't be yours That thing ain't big enough for the fish you catch And you drove right by it and kept going
  16. Let the lure out 20 ft +_ , hook it to the release , put the rod in the holder, let it down to where the bait or fish are, set the drag ,drive the boat . Can't get much more simple than that. Need a speed gauge ? A cheap version of that is the same lure you are running on a spare rod , hang it over the side and look at it .
  17. What pray tell is this " Gary D rig " of which you speak ? Is there such a thing and what does it do ?
  18. Today around 11 around Cow sucker in the east bound lane of the Parkway ? Probably coming home from Sandy .
  19. Family first The fish will all ways be there My boat is just like your .Great multi species boat You are going to love it . Take the time to set it up right and take care of it .
  20. I saw some cannon manuals on here with no bases . Get the riggers , master using them and add to your spread .
  21. Oh yeah , and I forgot this part . Important . I fish alone most of the time small boat. On the strike , if it's a good fish , and fall it all ways is , I leave the rod in the holder , pop the other rod and reel it in as fast as I can ,put the boat in neutral and play the fish out not being dragged by the boat . Usually around 5 min to land . After I land the fish and get organized I point the bow into the wind or current and head straight back to my weigh point . I can't tell you how many times I have had a hit before I got the second rod set . When I fish my big boat , sometimes it takes me a half hour to get back to my weigh point .
  22. Being board and seeing the need , I'm going to share my Small boat tactics program I post about . Fishing these LO fish since the beginning owning a few boats , I have learned a thing or two . I have had my success and my failures . I currently am fortunate enough to own 2 boats , a 21 ft hardtop and a 16 ft side console . I consider a small boat 17 ft or less . Big boats have a lot of advantages over small . A stable safe platform to run multiple rods efficiently and cover a,lot of water to name a few. But weather permitting , during peak times small boats have a few distinct advantages over big boats . First and foremost is maneuverability .Being able to turn and go back over schools of bait and fish fast .While big boats run long lines with coppers and dipsys , it's like turning around the Titanic to go back over spots . Turn to fast and this stuff sinks to the bottom . I have 2 manual riggers on my small boat and I use these, almost exclusively when I troll water deeper than 15 ft . Last early may to mid June I targeted kings from 60 to 120 ft , fishing down 40 to 9o ft . And did well almost every time out . I ran mostly flasher setups or Sometimes 1 spoon , 1 flasher . Just two rods no cheaters . My game plan was to see fish on my finder and adjust the depth to the fish and stay on top of them . I use leads of 25 to 35 ft mostly running both back the same . And keep them vertically at least 10 ft apart and as much as 40 . By doing this I can make a 150 ft complete circle without tangles . My flashers are doing a lot of crazy stuff down there I think ,which triggers strikes. I always troll in s curves . I have no down or up speed . Sometimes I use my handheld GPS for SOG . When it's slow , against my better judgement , I will put a Dispsey out . This, changes my whole dynamic of my trolling path which become straighter because of the long line,. And the effectiveness of my riggers goes down . The second advantage is small boats do not create the footprint bigger boats do .Fish sometimes feel the bigger boat, above them and it spooks them to the side , which is why coppers and dipsys shine for them IMO. Not so much spooking for smaller boats . Which us why I like my riggers . For fall stagers , which I love , I run 2 J plugs only almost exclusively . Starting in 10 to 12 ft back 75 , with the ball just under the surface . I work my way out and shorten leads to no less, than 40 ft . I set one 8 ft off bottom and one half way down . This fall was great for me doing this, a,lot of matures . IMO , downriggers are the heart of a small boat trolling program in water more than 15 ft ,for reasons I explained , use and are proven for me . You want a lure at 50 ft , put it there , no guess, work . , Small boats aren't big boats so don't try to be one. Less is more in a lot of situations . Use those advantages . Yup , I have slow days , but not many . This I what works for me . Just watch the weather and safety first.
  23. Get the riggers
  24. See what I mean ? And don't forget a sharp knife to cut all the tangled lines .
  25. Top is a # 3 Jplug Bottom 2 are Canadian plugs If you have the middle one , you have GOLD !
