It was great fishing for me and from most reports I saw from the South shore from Sandy west till mid June . The water was as green as I remember it being 30 years ago and that was a huge factor IMO. Late June and early July typically is the worst time to fish ,at least for me as the lake is stratifying and fish are scattered . I feel it is starting get better with the consistent warm weather and west and southerly winds.

I loved my Mag 10 s . Smooth , fast enough,auto stop, not huge . I used mine a lot . They just wore out . I would think auto stop would be a standard feature now days on all brands . I look at the new,ones and they are 50% bigger . I don't want them so fast they bounce when they stop.and break the cable . I know guys this,has,happened to .Or drop so fast you can't control them . Why do they need to be so fast? I wish I could find a new set in the box . I'm leaning toward Big Jon .

You guys can give Yamamoto your money ,but I use the Bass pro Stiko in 3 and 4" and sometimes 5" . Also Yum dinger or Big bite Baits . Bass pro make a 31/2" forktail also . Goto colors are green pumpkin , Houdini and my best the last month ,sprayed grass . I have been Ned rigging before Ned rigging was invented . I fish in water up to 12 ft so I don't need a heavy jighead. I have found jighead weight is CRITICAL ! I use 1/32 or 1/16 . Sometimes an 1/8 or 1/4 if it's windy with the bigger baits . Problem was you can't get a jighead that lite with a big enough hook and I got sick of paying 1$ each for the Z man Mushroom heads . So I bought a mold and had my machines buddy alter the mold to take a 1,2 or 4 hook . The last few days I have taken a 1/8 oz tungsten worm weight with a sinker stop behind as a stop and Snell tie a #4 or 2 octopus hook . Worm weight not fixed . Basically Carolina rig . 16 to 24" lead . Been great for finicky fish . Can't weight to try a Craw pappy this weekend at Saranac .

With launches closed and no wake 1000 ft from shore we decided to stay close and fish Sandy . Friday afternoon pre fishing was pretty good with a surprise 6# walleye and some big perch were the take . With some nice bass,in the mix Today was good early but front came thru and put fish down . We,had a nice,bag 3 bass,, a bunch of big perch and a,walleye . Had a total of about 15 BASS on the day . The weather changed . So out came the Jack and the fishing took a back shelf . Great shore lunch of walleye , perch , and a,few bass. Both cleaned bass were still pre spawn and eggs were not close to being dropped. Small senkos were the best lure choice of the last 2 days

I use a lot of mono and it is as good as it ever was Maybe better . I like Trilene XL clear or Big Game for my casting rods . I ave even used Bass pro or Eagle claw,with decent results . Use to use 40# $1.99 mason for flea line . Worked Great ! As luck has it I talked to a bass guy today and asked him if he used Flouro . He said " not any more , I hate the stuff " and pretty much said the some of the reasons I gave as why . The Gary D rig is still in R&D . But preliminary testing from mid July last year and up until last week for me have been excellent. I have caught everything but a brown on it . I catch More kings on it than anything else I used and it is the best lure in my spread this year . Nice to see that Seagaur has found their early version was less than stellar and improved it . I am going to ****can all the spools of Flouro I currently have so I won't be tempted in a moment of weakness to use it . Except for the Drennen.

Back in the day , pre flea , I ,and a lot of guys used 12# and 15# pink Ande or Trilene XT or Big game , and almost NEVER ,broke off . Pulled dodgers with the 15 . And the fish were bigger . So why does the Flouro to my baithead or My fly rod tippet etc of the same # test as the mono or heavier break way easier than mono ? A guy on here said he had a hard time landing stream fish on 3.6 # . That's not much less than the 4 I use most of the time with no problems . So why is that ? Mono is way more durable than Flouro . Flouro is more abrasion resistant than mono . But once it abraides it is way weaker. Kind of like a chip in your windshield . Maybe the fish I had break off swallowed the hook and the action of the line scraping over it's teeth compromised it . Or at least a,few,of them . I'm not above tying a,bad knot , but not all of them . And I know how to play a fish . The stuff just fishes different IMO . And I don't like it . The only reason to use it is because it is invisible .

A,friends of mine has a starcraft 17 ft 70 s . His,leaked where the Transom met the hull by the drain plugs . He had a friend who was a welder weld it some how . We thought it was the bolts also and it wasn't.
