  1. That's awesome!
  2. My issue was not with a charter boat, this boat had no name or writing on it, never seen it before in the west end. Charter boats haven't been an issue for me. I don't usually have issues with anyone as I always try to fish where there are no other boats. Sometimes that's not easy though! Weekends can get crazy!
  3. No that's a new one for me, that would suck!
  4. The thing that gets me is we always find our own fish and never go to where other boats are fishing, it's a big lake with plenty of fish to find. As soon as you put the net in they all come running to you, drives me nuts that nobody can find their own fish! Happened to me the last time out in the evening, we got out for a couple hours before dark. Found good bait setup and started catching right away, here comes a big 38 foot flybridge to join us! After ripping him on the radio a couple times he finally left.
  5. Pick your days and watch the weather close for any changes for the worse! Good luck!
  6. "Mechanical speed as we use it is not absolute, but is 100% repeatable. Using your probe speed as a reference point, it doesn't matter if the number is 2.0 or 200 - knowing what the probe speed is at the time of the strike and then duplicating that number is the important thing." That's exactly right, so when someone asks for a down speed it might be completely different than your down speed. My magic number is 2.6 but someone else might not be calibrated the same to duplicate it.
  7. Won't the salt corrode your bilge pump or other things?
  8. Thanks for the report guys!
  9. Welcome to forum, a wealth of knowledge can be found on these pages!
  10. Awesome fish, thanks for the report!
  11. Vince, Let me know how the mint oil works? I've tried 2 and 3 of your list with a little success. Next on my list is lemon oil, will post how it works! Thanks, Bob
  12. That sounds like an awesome evening! I won't leave the dock without my fish hawk. Thanks for the report!
  13. Awesome, that'll get rid of a couple of thieves!
  14. That's a good point, I've thought the same thing, I need a bigger boat! But do I really want to be out in 3 to 5 footers.....not really! The only advantage is more tackle storage and maybe a bathroom. I agree the weekends haven't been the best.
  15. Congratulations on that fine looking rig, Penn Yan are great boats! You'll get it all figured out and before you know it pulling those kings over the rail! Good luck!
  16. That sucks! Hope you can find out who did it. I'll keep an eye out here in Ohio forums.
  17. You guys kicked some azz! Great job, you guys should be proud of yourselves, that's one heck of an accomplishment!
  18. Awesome pictures.....crazy but awesome!
  19. Awesome fish! Thanks for the info.
  20. Thanks guys! It was our first time fishing the Lotsa and we just didn't know that they would change the weigh in location. It's our fault for not asking, but would of been nice if they made an announcement for the new guys. We'll know for next year, Lotsa is a great organization and a true asset to the fishery, I'm not knocking them. We still had an awesome time and met some great people. The fishing is awesome and will be heading back up very soon.
  21. Olcott 7/21 and 7/22 We fished the Lotsa Tournament and the first day we struggled a bit trying to find the big fish. Only being able to weigh in one fish near twenty pounds. Which we caught at the end of the day in 120 fow in front of the red barn. It came on a rigger 80 down in 60 degree water, kinda warm but feeding on all the bait in the area. Day two we ran west past Wilson and found bait in 220 fow and setup in a small area. We found the larger fish and had a couple mid twenty kings. We get back to Olcott and didn't know the weigh in was held elsewhere on day two, no announcement was made to let you know. By the time we found out where it was we were three minutes late, and told we were disqualified. Still wanted to go to the picnic but found no where to park our truck and trailer so we skipped the whole thing. Just not run like tournaments in Ohio, oh well. We still had a great time and can't say enough about how great the Olcott launch is kept! Had some paddles custom painted at ASB Tackle and that really helped us on day two, I love that tackle shop! What an awesome fishery!
  22. Nice, thanks for the report!
  23. Reminds me of the TV show Wicked Tuna, which character are you?
