I started using VMC Crankbait Snaps this year and really like them. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

I pull about 6" of lead out and then tie a uni to uni knot with the mono and the sheath. It's worked fine for two years. Small enough so it doesn't hang up and no break offs yet. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

That's awesome, Bruce! Congrats!

I hit the river for my first time out of Clayton Saturday with a buddy. 5 hours dragging 3 lines and nothing to show. Not even much marked in the area we were trolling. Quick question. If I want to go over to 40 Acre I need a Canadian fishing license, passport, normal coast guard required gear and a call to Canadian customs/immigration to notify them, correct? Or am I missing something? I usually just research this stuff myself but wanted to check with the guys on here first because I'd hate to get jammed up over there. Thanks, Chow

Lets hope they come out with some even cooler stuff with some more money behind them. Of course, this most likely means they will be sold to someone bigger in a few years. "Peak Rock Capital said it purchased Do Outdoors Inc., which does business as Lew’s Fishing, a supplier of branded fishing reels, rods and accessories. ... The firm said it plans to invest in product innovation along with strategic add-on acquisitions as a part of its investment."

Great info, Yankee. I only run divers so I'm very interested in ST. One more question, are you putting it right inline directly to the diver or using a clip farther up the line? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

I think Avids are great rods. I don't have any experience with the Pearl though. The grip looks like the same tapered cork they use on the Legends and I had a little trouble getting used to casting with that. My ring and pinky finger end up down the taper and slip a bit. Wish they just went with straight cork but that's my only complaint. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

I picked up a Lew's Team Pro and Team Lite at the beginning of this past season. Great reels. Smooth and cast a mile. I think you'll be happy with your Team Lite. Before Lew's I used Diawa and then BP Carbon Lites. I'll be sticking with Lew's going forward. They seem to have more consistent performance. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Basspro already owns Nitro, Stratos, Triton and Ranger. Although Fishing Holdings, which holds Stratos, Triton and Ranger, was supposed to be kept under separate management from Tracker Marine. Lots of moving parts. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Yes. Wright's Landing does. Not sure if they're still open now. I'd call first. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Wow!I took your advice and just got my light. Waved it over some glow plugs in a fully lit room and they still glowed. Amazing. Charges them up in a second. Thanks for the tip! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Go with 30# fireline if you're using braid. It doesn't pick up fleas. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United -

Meat Rig Bait/Alternatives and places to buy?
Chowdaire replied to PhlyanPan's topic in Tackle and Techniques
An MC Rocket I picked up at Fat Nancy's took all my bites last weekend. Why's it always gotta be something new? It was all spoons early for me, filled a couple of boxes with them. Then dead. All FF bite for the next few weeks. Loaded up on them. Now meat rigs with MC Rockets? Come on!!! This is getting expensive. -

I'm running them on 30# fireline because of the fleas in Ontario. They work fine except I have to rotate the tubing like it says to do in the instructions for braid. Otherwise there is some slippage.

Reflectors are a good idea. I buy those Lindy Bobber Brite sticks and strap them to the flags. Gives good visibility, you just need new ones every night out. Good luck on the eyes! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
