    My fixed cheaters will generally stay on the line so I have to take them off by hand if the fish is on the bottom spoon. Same as dealing with a planer board to me. If it got real hairy you may be able to reel them down the line but I've never had a problem taking them off on my own. The fun comes when you get fish on both. I've only landed both fish once. Usually have them run away from each other and one pulls the hook. Once had one in the net and the one on the cheater ran into the prop on the kicker and got cut off. The joys of fishing solo.

    Yep. I have Chamberlain stackers. Almost never use them. Fixed or free sliders. Not going to say you can't go with a longer leader but remember that the swivel will stop at the top of your bottom spoon so that's as close as you can get for netting. Also, you'll find they wrap around the main line when clearing the line so the less of that you have to deal with the better.

    You can run the short leads off a board. Then you're getting out from the boat but still at the right depth. Works great for shallow walleyes not sure why it wouldn't for muskies.

    Thanks, guys. I really appreciate the info. I was thinking Tuna Tom's but wanted to throw it out there first. I got the diagram online and took the reel apart. It looks like the thread is nearly gone on the star knob itself. It doesn't screw down and there were shavings on the shaft. I took one of my other Saltists apart and the star knob is tight on the threads so seems like that's it.

    I have a 2 season old Saltist 30 that I use with wire divers that failed on Monday. I was letting the diver out with the drag loosened and when it got to the right distance I tightened it down, as always. As it tightened the spool just broke free and line started going out again. Now the drag spins and clicks but doesn't tension the spool at all. I saved the wire by turning the spool with my thumbs for 280' with a mag dipsy and 10" spinny on it, which was a joy, but at least I got everything back. Has anyone ever had this happen? Any advice on getting it repaired?

    I use the high speed Coldwaters on my riggers and for musky. I really like them but haven't put the stress of wire divers on them so can't endorse them for that. I use Saltists for my divers.

    Tough going for me out here. Did real well last week and Saturday, can’t get anything going today. 3 mid sized kings and steelhead out around 400fow. A couple misses on meat. Temp-wise I’m getting 44 down 80. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

    Not sure if any of you have tried the Brad’s Super Cut Plug but I ran one today for the first time. Loaded it up with herring oil and ran it 3’ behind a 10” spin doctor. Took a half dozen kings. Just another option (and something to blow money on). Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

    They definitely catch fish and are easy to use and keep on hand. I don't know how they'd fair in a head 2 head battle against real strips but I've done well with them. I think it's harder to get good hookups with them though. And I do add herring oil to them.

    I don't want to give you bad advice so just to clarify. iPilot works with a remote. iPilot Link has a remote AND interfaces with Humminbird units. Plain iPilot will not interface with Humminbird, or any sonar unit.

    I can tell you it doesn’t give the distance they advertise. The range on that Mega isn’t much. I run Solix units on my boat and have a G2 Helix on my kayak. It does show you a lot shallow though. Especially bait and bottom transitions. Under 25 fow I always have SI on. Over 60fow, never. In the mid depths I’ll sometimes run the lower frequency to get more range. All depends on the situation. But back to the original question. Deep water trolling, standard sonar on low frequency is all you need. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

    I don’t think no temp will hurt you but no down speed is tough. Pay attention to blow back and your dipsy rod bend to dial in your speed. With the current your speed at the lure will often be totally different than your SOG and it’s real important to get right. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

    Been catching kings on mags since April and I use 20# blue label for spoon leaders. No issues. I just use 30# big game from dipsy to flasher. Also no issues.
