  1. Hello all. My Buddy is coming from Idaho to fish the 21st through 29th. Looks like we may have to fish some rough water. I Never had much luck with anything over 2 footers, although I try. Don't know why. It seems really hard to fish divers when its rough, I do know that. Any tips you can provide will be appreciated. I think it kills the bite, or he presentation of my lures. Thanks.
  2. I tinted my windshields with the film I bought at Walmart. I took the plastic sides off and installed the bug net ones. Boat came with both. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. I'm going to try this next week. I have some I salted. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. I hope the weather and the bite holds up. My friend is coming from Idaho, the 21st through the 28th. I'm worrying about the wave and thunderstorm forecast for next week. Ugh! It's been so good. Great report. Thanks. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. My dad gave me this. It is a very large spinner. About 6 inches long. It is marked W.T.J. Lowe Buffalo NY. It also has a 3/0 on the spinner. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. Makes sense. So if I stop the boat, the sonar will show pretty accurate how deep the ball is, so I can then see if my counter matches, got LINE OUT. I understand that once I start moving the display will no longer be accurate. Ok, so now the question: if a hook shows on my screen is that accurate? I assume I will need to see where the tip of the return is? Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Thanks. Good to know. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. I know, I don't pay enough attention to that. I usually just put a combination things out and hope for the best. Usually, combination of spoons and flasher flies.
  9. Never thought of that! because of blowback- ball dragging, correct? Thanks Joe.But its probably close I would surmise.
  10. I agree. At least they have a chance. Thanks for the report. You found them way out deep. Did you try in shallower at first?
  11. you did great! Thanks for report. My buddy comes from Idaho Friday night for a week of salmon fishing. Hope it holds up....weather and bite
  12. Interesting Gambler! Do you think you are more apt to catch the smaller Kings on a spoon, than you will on a flasher/fly, or meat rig? I assume this is what you are saying. And I assume the reason it will result in killing the small ones is because of the long fight, or dragging them without knowing. Is this correct? Thanks. 13. Bentrod, I actually believed from your first post, that the fish looked like it could weigh 30 LBS. Great fish, bigger than any I have caught! I was just saying that its nice to have a scale, especially for me, who last week had a 14 pounder that I thought was 25!.
  14. I took off the silver window shade and put the tinted film on the windows instead so i can see out.
  15. Unfortunately I list my church board Sunday. In Erie. It probably went over the falls by now. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. I have been using Mack's inline spinning attractors, with spoon about 3 feet behind and I like them, no drag. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. Also, I can see my weight on my fish finder, so I know how deep it is. I have to set my fish finder frequency to medium chirp to see it. So you can use your fish finder too. If you see the ball is at 80 feet on the FF, but the counter says 60, just disenhe gear, turn until counter reads 80, and reengage. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. I would spool out wire until it is 3 feet below the bottom of the boat, and read the counter. Do the same with 100 feet out. Then disengage the counter gear, turn it until it reads correctly then re engage. I just ordered new gears for my counters ony 10 As. $2.99 each from Cannon. 19. This is concerning to me, as it should be to anyone who joins the tournament. The rules and procedures must be clear, and they must be followed. No gray areas. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. I keep a cheap scale on my boat, that is surprisingly accurate. Cost less than $20. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. I have yellow birds, church's and off shores.I have a big jon mast system, with homemade big boards.
  22. NOPE, me too. The braid just digs into the rubber.
  23. Well I don't use them since I just lost my second and last one last week! Wire line snapped. UGH!
  24. your "less" is my about my max! 6 rods. I will keep all of the above in mind for the staging kings, and also going out farther for youngers .
  25. July 4 and 5, my FF got so hot you couldn't touch it. Expensive unit, and apparently Lowrance has no repair capabilities, so this alarmed me. So I built a shade for it and put reflective material on the boat window. See picture. This worked great. Unit is running much cooler. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
