Long shaft or short shaft - HOW TO TELL? Just bought a boat. Put my evinrude 9.9 on for kicker, and it got swamped out yesterday. It has a shaft that is about 16 to 17 inches from the mount to the cavitation plate. The model Number says it is a long shaft but I have my doubts. I need a new kicker but I want to be sure I get the right shaft. Obviously longer than my 9.9 has. I see them with 15 inch, 20, inch and 25 inch. HOW DO I KNOW WHICH I NEED, 20 or 25???? Thanks. My boat has the bracket that goes up and down sizzors type. There are 3 holes to adjust the height. Where should the motor caviation late be when down?

Thanks, Decoy Hound. We put the new (to me ) boat on the water today. It worked perfectly. It did take on 5 to 10 gallons of water though. Lost a 25 pounder at the net AGAIN. Father in law has bad knees and he is not stable enough to net them. He feel just as I was leading him to the net. Hook caught net and pop. Gone. Only had 3 bites today and lost them all. I got a 22 foot Grady white, 1982, with 175 HP evinrude that is 1992. Need a long shaft kicker now.

18 foot Caravelle- Turn Key for Salmon and Walleye-$3000 OBO. Selling my Boat. It is totally set up for Salmon fishing, or Walleye in Lake Ontario and Erie. Lowrance Elite 4 chirp bought last year 3 down riggers, 1 is a Big Jon Electric, Two are Riveria Manual. Only two are mounted on the boat Planer Board Mast, reels new line. (No Boards). You can use mine as pattern and build your own, easy to do for about $30. All interior lights are LED SHORELINE easy load trailer with LED lights, bearings repacked last year and has bearing buddies. Spare tire All tires two years old. 25 gallon under floor gas tank, aluminum. new sending unit. Fuel lines to both motors. Bimini Top. bought last year Boat Cover This boat is not a looker, (exterior) but it is a great fishing boat. The interior is very nice (all NEW). Has built in cooler in the floor and storage in the floor. Only thing it needs is a paint job to make it look great, but for fishing, who cares? Cheap way to get on the big lakes. TURN KEY and go! I have used it extensively the last two years after totally rebuilding the floor, stringers and transom with marine plywood and Epoxy Resin. Totally dry when you pull the plug after a days fishing. You know what you are getting if you buy this boat. I have all the build pictures and I know it is stronger than it was new. Interior is totally newly refurbished with marideck floor, swivels seats, all nice. The Boat needs a paint job if you want the exterior to look good. Sounds like they may be better than blacks if small fish can release them, but you can still crank line down hard on them. With blacks, I sometimes drag fish without knowing it. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I clean my fish at home. Freeze the carcasses until trash day. But I have read where the fish carcasses are good for the water, saw a Salmon documentary on TV about returning the carcasses to the water. But, as far as the Olcott Marina....if it weren't for the Olcott Marina, I would not have even been able to fish lake ontario this year. They are the only ones with floating docks, and they immediately built a ramp to get to them. Friendly helpful staff too. Good parking. Hot coffee ready at 0600. Nice cleaning station. Nice photo board. CLEAN bathrooms that are OPEN. THANK YOU OLCOTT MARINA! I wish others had the gumption (or fore site when they were installed) to put in floating docks when they knew the lake would not recede all summer. i checked out the wilson dock at the park months ago. NO GO.
