  1. I'm telling you, if you can't afford both, I would get the auto pilot. But at "only" $353, maybe you could get both. I sold some things on Craigslist to buy mine. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. Trouble is, even if you you are in the tournament and you are alone, it doesn't count. I always worry when I'm fishing alone that will be the day I get the big one! Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. Great to hear. It works in 3 to 5 waves for me. Like I said you may need to crank main motor to make a 180 turn though in the rough seas. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. I ordered the cover. Thanks for the link. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. I actually have 3 deep cycle batteries back there. One is connected solely to the autopilot. I also have a 70 hp and a 9.9 kicker. 19 foot fairly deep boat. Water comes into the well once in awhile but certainly nothing to worry about. It may help that the boat is rated for a 130 hp and I am under powered! But it gets me along at 22 mph. 6. Yeah it's a bummer. The fish hawk is touchy about how my fish finder is set up. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Bob, this year I bought a raymarine St 1000 autopilot for $353 and a fish hawk for $560. The best money I spent was for the autopilot, by far. I also fish alone often. The autopilot changed everything. The fish hawk? Not so sure it has made a huge difference. Still learning, but if I had to make a choice, I would buy an autopilot before a fish hawk. No substitute for being able to push a button and set lines, fight fish, etc. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Wow I didn't think they would be that shallow. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. Lowrance elite 4 chirp. High chirp setting doesn't bother it but when set to medium chirp the FISH HAWK display comes and goes allot. I prefer the medium chirp because I can see the balls with it, not so well, or at all with high chirp. Also fish give a longer hook with medium, just a blip with high. Tried moving the fish finder transducer but it didn't help. I am wondering if putting the probe down on the same side as the fish hawk transducer would help. Now I send it down on the opposite side down rigger. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. So when the line pops loose you have to put another one when you deploy the line again, correct? Just wondering how many dog snaps I would need on an average day. Of course you could reel in the board and gather them up if needed. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. Olcott 7/16 flea's are getting worse. Guess I'll have change line from braid to 30 lb monofilament. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. From the LOC derby leader board, it appears the winner could from anywhere. The current leader is a 30 pounder from Fair Haven, and a second place is 29 pounder from Lewiston. So that gives me hope as I always fish out of Olcott. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. I have two Marine batteries in parallel that run all electric and both main and kicker starters, and the electric down rigger. No problems at all. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. I can't see past the huge king... What tether line? I just a shower curtain rod on the line and send it. But I have found a reliable release. Braid is too fine and it often slips out. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. Yes thanks for the details. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. Oh by the way, I was seeing about 45 to 48 as I recall, average and at surface was 68 to 69. Caught fish on Chinook divers #4 on third hole and 250 back. I was seeing a few blips at 50 feet down so set rigger at 50 and immediately got the coho. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. I fished east to the smoke stack. Caught an 18 lb king, a Steelie, and a small coho I had to keep because he was bleeding. Never saw ANY bait! Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. Thanks i finally got a king and a steel head 275 fow Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  20. very interesting. Thanks for all the commentary, it helps me to understand whats happening with the temps. still a lot to learn for sure.
  21. Well it is possible your fish hawk is out of calibration, or maybe a cold mass of water was upwelling right there where you were. But definitely, too many reports from Olcott and elsewhere of 68 to ,70 on the surface. So, the lake id apparently not turned yet, and from what I read it is all bad when it does. 22. Seems every weekend the lake is too rough. During the week it calms down. Saturday morning the 15th was no different. Report said 1 to 3, but Lake was 3 to 5. Had to come back in. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. I don't think the Lake turned over. Forgive me if I am wrong. I am an amateur. But the charts and my own observation this morning shows surface temp 69.3 or so. ???? Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. I meant the 15 the. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. Was out at 6 sat 25th. Surface temp 69. Had to go back in. Too rough. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
