    Water means nothing to deer in my experience of Hunting them in the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge during drought years like this year. In fact I made.     I have to finally conclude that water is simply not a factor in hunting deer. I hunt the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge, for 17 years now. This year is a drought. There's been a few other years like it. I can walk to my all spots with nothing but ankle high hiking shoes. There's been years when these same spots required hip waders. So, when this occurs, I seek out water sources for trail camera set ups and I have even hunted them with no success. Yesterday I thought the hidden ponds I found near soybean and corn fields would be getting hit hard by deer, for water, since it's the only water around. Just as in other drought years, I found that NO, the deer are not going there. Hardly any tracks in the mud that encircles the ponds. I am now convinced that water is simply not a good strategy for deer hunting, even in a drought year. Where they get their water I have no idea, but I can assure you these ponds are the only water sources within a half mile to mile away. The next closest would be oak orchard Creek, about a mile away.     Me too. My tree was covered in poison ivy. By time I realized it I had already been breaking the vines and removing them as I climbed up. It's on my wrists.     Here's more pictures. Bullseye's at 20, 30, and 35 yards! They hit 3 inches right and 3 inches Lower than the Field points. So made a slight adjustment and this is the result.     After over 40 years of bow hunting and trying many types and brands of broadheads I eventually settled on the Two blade Rage. But, I was never totally happy with them because of the retaining o rings or plastic rings. I just bought some EXODUS fixed broadheads. Sacrificed one for target shooting. After a slight sight adjustment, these broadheads fly and shoot better than my Field points! Bullseye's at 20, 30 and 35 yards which is my max. I thought it might be a fluke so I screwed another head onto a different arrow. Same result. These things are amazing. Made in the USA.     Nothing! My dismal fishing season continues. On advice of a charter deck hand went to 450 and trolled to 500 fow. Two hours of zilch with nothing on the screen. Had 45 degrees 95 down.so went into 259 fow since there was a line of boat trolling at 300. I had 46 degrees as I recall, down 80. Do temp seemed fine. Saw one bait ball. No marks. Gave up. But my new lower unit is working good. Yesterday went to Catt Creek for walleyes, and it is just as bad. Nobody catching, and little to nothing on the screen. 2020 sucks.     Motor is running good now. I found a broken clamp on the fuel line, so I don't know if it was getting air, and if that caused anything or not. Boat hasa 90 gal tank, and I have it piped to both the 175HP, and the 9.8 kicker (which is a 4 stroke). With the VRO I am very happy that I just have an oil tank for the big 175 2 stroke, and no oil/fuel mixing. I suppose at some point the VRO will be unavailable and the decision will be made for me.

    So my lower unit went bad, and I needed to get the anti theft gizmo nut off. What a job. Nothing on YouTube worked. Of course bought it used so no key. So here's how I did it. I bought a Dremel tool and used the cutting wheel. I slit/cut the cylinder shaped thing that just spins around the actual nut. I cut it in two opposite sides. Then still had to hammer chisel each half off the shaft. Then used vice grips on the now damaged nut to remove it. Seriously, I would NEVER put one of these on, and I'd rather have my prop stolen.     Thanks for all the advice! I ordered a new SEI manufactured unit. But, I also wanted to know if mine was really bad. So I tore it down and found one broken pinion gear tooth, a rounded of forward gear tooth, and a rounded off reverse gear tooth. So, I think the best bet is the $895 SEI unit, and I did buy their Driveshaft so I can just snap it into the lower unit. Should be here Friday.     Thanks guys. L&M contacted me and said he could tear down and replace the seals and see what if anything is bad. Which was good to know that he can do that. I was told some slivers on the magnets are normal. I think mine has a little more than normal, and the oil has water in it. Rather than try a seal kit, and tear down/inspection, I opted for a new unit for $895 and 3 year warranty from Mariners Warehouse, florida. It was one of those decisions you know, tear don, and overhaul, or new unit I can bolt on (hopefully) myself.
