All great ideas, and I really appreciate the input. I guess what I'm trying to find is a less expensive autopilot. Like a steering wheel control unit or something under $1000 for the entire system. For salmon fishing? 8 hours of 2.5 sounds hard on the batteries. It would have to be a very long shaft also, bow sits 3' plus out of the water. Then you have waves and wind to deal with.
