  1. If I buy a "season" pass for the fall derby do I need to stop someplace and register each day before I fish?
  2. I was just going to say the samething. We use it occasionally on Oneida for walleyes, I have personally caught several fish doing it and it is a blast. It gets old very quick though if you aren't catching fish.
  3. I'll take both for $100 Pm me
  4. As a younger engineer I def appreciate the sketching too. I missed out on the hand drafting era, everything I do and have ever done has been in CAD. Prolly a good thing for me because my lettering would be terrible compared to yours! Either way it’s cool to see it laid out like that!
  5. Haha wow... only in NY! "Hey here is this new law that you're required to follow! And if you don't... there's no penalty whatsoever! P.S. Thanks for your tax dollars we spent coming up with this brilliant new law"
  6. The original law that was in place before this one allowed you to be grandfathered in if you were born after a certain year. They basically re-vamped the law to include everyone now. By 2025 everyone who drives a boat will have had to take a boaters safety course.
  7. I checked my card for the jet ski course I took, it doesn't say anything about being specifically for jet skis. It is just called "NYS Boater's Safety Course", so I'm gonna assume that it is the same course.
  8. Bought this motor brand new last spring, hours are well under 50 if I had to guess. Its a 4 stroke, long shaft, manual start, manual tilt, no charging motor (can be added though). I have a uninstalled controlking remote throttle unit included as well as a 4 blade hi-thrust prop and original unused 3 blade prop. Factory 3.3 gal tank and hose included. I paid close to $2k delivered for this last spring asking $1300, located in Rome, NY.
  9. This motor was off a little pond boat we had up at camp. It got hot due to a plastic bag blocking the water intake on the lower unit, it was still running when I shut it down. But the sight glass where you check the oil level melted and it now leaks oil out of the sight glass port. It has a 20" shaft and internal 1.3 gal gas tank, may be fixable or parts. I just want it out of the garage $150 takes it, can get pics for anyone interested. Located in Rome, NY
  10. I don't know if this is new to everyone or not but I just heard about it on the radio and thought I would pass it along. I took whatever course was required to drive a jet ski years ago... I wonder if this is different or if what I have qualifies me? Either way they gave us plenty of time to take the class thankfully... https://961theeagle.com/new-requirements-for-cny-boaters/
  11. You can prolly figure out where the temp is for them by the other boats out there. We had a tough time finding salmon Sat so we moved in shallow looking for browns. Saw a couple boats in 80fow and figured that was where the temp was for them. Dropped my probe in 75fow and sure enough 60* right on bottom. Anyone inside of 100fow right now is most likely looking for browns.
  12. I’ll take it, PM me
  13. You don't have to use wire, you can get away with a braid setup for dipsey divers. Wire is nice because it is easier to get fleas off of and it will get you setup deeper than braid with less line out (smaller diameter wire cuts through the water better). Tekotas are great reels just make sure you get the line counter version.
  14. They have had constant problems with that machine in Mexico. I couldn't get it to read my empire pass Sat morning for whatever reasons. Usually I just put the card it self on my dash. Been there atleast twice this year before Sat where it didn't work and never gotten a warning or ticket doing it this way. When I use the pass for day entry at a manned state park they just ask for the number on the card and then tell me I'm good. So I make sure the numbers are visible when I put it on my dash at Mexico.
  15. He pretty much nailed it... but the forecast can be wrong sometimes. I was out this Sat in my 18ft aluminum, it was absolutely perfect! They were spot on with the wind speed/direction. However I was out the Sat before in 6mph SE... they had the SE part right but 6mph was way off (it was close to double that). I've had other times I made the hour drive up towing the boat only to find worse conditions than forecasted and had to suck it up, not even launch and go back home. The weatherman is the only person that can be wrong 50% of the time and still have a job! Personally if it's calling for anything over 7mph first thing in the morning, I don't bother going no matter the direction. Wind tends to build as the day goes on.
  16. Where 60* meets the bottom is usually the ticket for this time of year. Even if that happens to be 60-80 fow you don't need to fish super deep to catch them. We do well for browns on short to med leadcore setups (3-7 colors), with stickbaits and spoons. You can run clip-on or inline weights to get these down deeper too.
  17. He pretty much nailed it, they def work and I have caught fish on them as well. If I had real meat I would run that well before I used the rockets though. Soco baits just came out with their own version of "articial meat" that looks good also.
  18. Yup same here, I use coastlock style snaps now. If you look the weight rating is significantly stronger on the same size coastlock snap when compared to the other style.
  19. I forget which brand it is but one of them actually includes a couple toothpicks in the package with their meat rigs.
  20. I believe what you're talking about was a post I made on here. I still run them like this with no issues so far, mainly because I fish with my father a lot. He is mobility challenged so it was impossible to have him walk back a dipsey rod to net the fish. Also was a pita for me to try and handline in the leader and net the fish. Now I unclip the dipsey and he reels in the fish. Another reason I do it this way instead of slide divers is I already had a bunch of dipsey divers and a bag of OR-16 clips was cheaper than buying a bunch of slide divers.
  21. price always helps with a sale... CAD or US?
  22. Why stack poles when you can just run a fixed cheater on the same rod?
