  1. I gave up on that powder and went back to pellets. Both my guns shoot lights out. And my load is the triple 7 mag pellets they come In a red box. And hornady low drag 250 sst's.. I have everyone I my hunting group shooting the same load now and everyone's guns shoot great with it. Also so easy to load. Yes you have to clean more. But I will take that over poor proformance, some times poor ignition of black horn. If you keep shooting that make sure find a drill bit that fits in your breach plug and keep the hole really clean if not you will someday have a miss fire Sent from my moto z4 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. Anyone know if the ramp is open yet? If not what are mayers hours? Or is there any where else on the bay to launch Sent from my moto z4 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. If it has good compression it's fine nothing else from overheating would make it run bad. I would not give up. I still sounds electrical and fuel related . Sent from my moto z4 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. Have you tried a remote gas tank? Maybe the tank has a small blockage in the puck up? Sent from my moto z4 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. Now that's the best advice you can get. My boat will troll slow enough with out bags, but i run them all the time. They help so much , help control speed, and make your motor run better. Trolling plates suck think about it, what makes a boat steer is the thrust of water coming off the prop. With a plate it comes out all over, out the sides , the top and the bottom. So how can you steer very well with it.? Take that plate off and sell it for scrap, and get some good bags and rig them just like he said. And always run them both. Trust me you will be glad you did. 6. I run flies on all the sizes not really in tot he meat, it's a pain. I just do 3 times the flasher for my leader to the fly . So on an 8 inch it's like 24" and on a 11 inch paddle it's almost 3 foot ..I make all my leaders alittle over 36 inches when I tie my fly rigs, then when on the water when I need a new one just use the spinner or flasher to measure and tie it. Seems to work well for me Sent from my moto z4 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. I fished out of oak if you want just matures there are some in a 90 to 120 we been picking 1 an hour or so in there..and all are matures. Did that Sunday and Monday both. Sent from my moto z4 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Check out my post on Tim he's post "help with my 1996 60 horse johnson I have loads of power and all kinds of problems . Fuel line was the problem. Good luck Sent from my moto z4 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. Check your gas lines a pump bulb. Mine had all kinds of problems low power. Was getting to much oil and making it foul plugs run bad drop a cylinder. And this is what fixed it ..the gas line had broke down and it was collapsing making the engine starve for fuel but since it's oil injected and it works off vacuum it was drawing extra oil. Here is how the line was it had a liner and it came loose and was collapsing. This was the piece between the fitting on the boat and the primmer bulb. I just replaced all the lines and bulb now it runs perfect Sent from my moto z4 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. There is no reason ever to leave a fellow boater stranded.. I don't care if your going to be late to dinner , late to work or makes you loose a day of fishing . If some ones needs help on the water and you can help at all you do.. people like that make me sick. With my 18 foot boat and a 90 horse I pulled a 28 foot heavy boat over 8 miles to port. And no I would not take his money for gas and yes it made me miss fishing for the day. But you know what who cares all 5 people on that boat made it home safe. It is what you do. 11. I know with stiffer rods people have problems, I run the old standard yellow eagle claws they are very soft. It seems to take up alot of the shock of hard hits , and head shakes on long runs. Also I run my drags pretty light then as the fish is done with his crazy runs I tighten it alittle to get them to the boat. Sent from my moto z4 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. Oak has 2 launches , east side is free has about room for 15 or so trailers if the idiots don't park cars in the trailer parking. The ramp is good, it's easy to launch and load perfect straight back in and pitch is about perfect. It's open 24 hours. The west side is NY state run so you have to pay, and also a really good ramp had tons of parking but is a little walk to get from parking to ramp.. it's like a 250 yard walk from the closest parking spot. It is not normally as busy and has more room for staging and backing up. Also open 24 hours. Sent from my moto z4 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. The only reason one person is more unsafe than 2 or more is the fact if you fall over board .while trolling there is no way your catching the boat. I would hope if you have anyone with you even kids you have at least shown them how to put he boat in and out of gear. They might be an ace at driving it or be able to come back and get you but they can at least make it stop going away at 2.5 mph . I fish alone alot and I was thinking of at least getting one of the remote kill switches.. a few days when it was really bumpy I rigged a pcs of fish if line to my belt loop and to the kill switch string. Just in case ..but even on a flat day if you fell in the boat is a goner Sent from my moto z4 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. Bender back and send it down until they stop bitting it ..some of my best spoons are bent , twisted , missing paint and tape half gone Sent from my moto z4 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. Don't worry about the doubles and it triples .. if it happens and it will, just leave one in a rod holder and let him run. If it goes slack switch rods just until you have it tight. Then back the the first one so you don't get them both to the boat at once. I had a double last night and it worked just fine. Once I had a triple by my self and it was 2 on one rod , one on the cheater and one on main line and one on a dive.. that one caused some problems I ended up getting both fish on the one rod in the net together luck one was not a mature. But the one on the diver while I was doing that ran at the boat and got in the rigger.. that was a mess took me a few mins after it was all over to get untangled and get back to fishing. But that's really the only time I had a true mess. Sent from my moto z4 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. Those are 8 inch and my home made flies Sent from my moto z4 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. I don't think solo is that hard. My boat is set up with long arm riggers so there is plenty of room in the middle to net fish. I also have 3 rod holders on my riggers so there is lots of places to stick the rod if you need to. I always stuff the net under the fish then drop the rod tip so they fall right in and then stuff the rod in one of the extra holders so I can use both hands the lift the net .The only thing that's tricky is the flasher fly on the divers some times netting big fish can be hard. I never run those crazy long leaders like a lot of guys do I keep mine so the whole rig is still about a foot shorter than my diver rod. I did knock one off with the net last night on the diver but that was just me rushing , but no big deal I was letting them all go any way. Also my motor moves so easy I can steer it by just just grabbing it and turning it a little so I can keep the boat straight while setting up with out running to the wheel all the time. 18. Oh and that was from 530 pm till dark .. an after work trip Sent from my moto z4 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. My kid was going to go and backed out at the last minute so went solo. Got 6 matures 1 two year old and one skipper . 90 to 130 did not seem to matter. Got fish on riggers 80 and 65 and divers 180 and 140. Most fish were on spinners with flies but couple on spoons .. 4 over 20 pounds . Pics of each and the scale read out. Best you can do solo you can see the baits I got them on. Sent from my moto z4 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. Mind with the line problem had some days when I first started it that it would smoke alot too I believe it was all related I think the motor was sucking trying to get more fuel and drew extra oil to make it smoke .. Sent from my moto z4 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. I just had problems with mine and it was the gas lines . The had a liner in them and it was collapsed here is what it looked like when I took it apart. I would start with that and a new primer bulb before I did anything else. Sent from my moto z4 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. I use walker releases this never happens to them because they free spin on the swivels they are built on. I have been on other boats with blacks and have seen this happen. The trick to keeping it from happening is keeping the line from your rod to the release tight , most of the time it happened in the first few feet before there is tension on everything ..so make sure you start right out with the line from your rod to release tight so it keeps the release facing the right direction even if the ball tries to spin. Also if you have ball retrievers when you let the ball back out away from the boat that can make them spin. Again just make sure the line from the rod to the release is tight I keep mine so the rod is bent almost like it's set in the rigger then as I let it down u keep tension on it all the way down. 23. The one at the county park is open now. Or at least it was a week ago. Think the hours are Short. Think 3pm to 9 pm. I can check and make sure and post it when I find out for sure the hours. Sent from my moto z4 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. Sorry picture did not attach the first time but you can see what I mean. The slopped side should face the release handle ..one of mine was backwards. Sent from my moto z4 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. I had one that was like that and the rod holder was in it backwards ..look at the notches one side is a little rounded the other is square ..I had to take the pin out and turn one around and then it worked fine Sent from my moto z4 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
