  1. Chances are, I'll see how the wind's howling at the Causeway tomorrow afternoon.
  2. Just shy of 5 lbs.
  3. I haven't been to Waneta, yet. Otisco's the only place I've gone for the big toothy critters. They're like my pets there - even named 3 of them.
  4. I'm going to try and make it out there this week sometime, depending on work and weather. Haven't had a toothy critter on the line in a while now.
  5. Got my personal best yesterday at Lourdes Camp, this 24" female rainbow.
  6. I was just curious if anyone's used them before, if there were any gotcha's to look out for - that kind of stuff. I casted it for the first time today and it works well. The drag's very quiet, which I'm not that fond of, but it was hard to beat the price!
  7. Thanks! If I got stuck withe hook right now, I'd bleed gravy.
  8. I was driving along the other day and saw a cobweb and dust covered rod and reel leaning against a trash can by the side of the road. I stopped and quickly tossed it in the back of the jeep. When I got home, I dusted it off and found it to be a 2-piece 7' M Ugly Stick, circa 2000 or so (I'm guessing) with a Mitchell Copperhead 40 spinning reel on it. It also had a shiny little Panther Martin spinner attached to the line. SCORE! The rod and reel are both pristine and in need of a damp cloth - that's it. Everything seems to work perfectly. I haven't been able to find out much about the reel, so I was wondering if anyone knew the specs on it. It's not a rear-drag model, and I have no idea what max drag is. The only other markings on it are "4 Ball Bearings", "5.6:1 Ratio", and "180 yd/10 lb." If anyone knows more, I'd appreciate learning more about it. It looks exactly like this:
  9. I went last Sunday. It just seemed devoid of anything there. I'll probably be there this Sunday afternoon too though.
  10. You could hand launch there, that's about it. There's a state launch SW of the village though. I don't know about ice, it rarely ices up and I don't ice fish.
  11. I saw a few boats out while I was fishing from the Causeway this afternoon. Didn't see much in the way of any action, though.
  12. Went to Lourdes again this morning. Took a LL Salmon and 2 Rainbows.
  13. The water's still _really_ low. As of Thursday, it's only come up about 6" with all the rain we've had.
  14. I may go to the Causeway tomorrow afternoon. Going to Lourdes in the AM.
  15. Drove by the Causeway around noon on my way back from Lourdes. I was wet and chilly, so I didn't even go out there to check it out.
  16. I was at Lourdes this morning for a bit. Landed this tasty gem.
  17. Not as bad as it could be, but the shores are riddles with PILES of chopped up weeds... piles you almost have to hop over.
  18. I was at the Causeway today, and Otisco's, maybe, 5-6 inches higher than it was before the rain. The sustained 25+ MPH winds were fun too. Not even bait was biting.
  19. <drool> Those are gorgeous!
  20. Hi! I'm Rob. I stumbled across this forum recently and decided to sign up. I fish Otisco quite a bit and have become quite fond of the Tigers there. I got into them a coupe of years ago and have had a blast with them. I fish the Causeway mostly. I don't own a boat currently, but I'd imagine it's near impossible to launch a boat on Otisco now anyway. I'm mostly a live bait guy, but I recently picked up a decent musky bait-casting rig and some big honking lures to toss out there. I figure I have about 9100 casts to go before one hits on e of the lures. I look forward to learning more and discussing everything with you folks!
