I had the same problem, change them carbon disks. Solved the problem. Don't forget the drag grease.

I use 12lb lead core and it dose go down 5ft per color, if you keep moving and don't use a heavy spoon or diving plug. It also depends on your trolling speed. I try to stay at 1100 rpms. Being fishing this way for 60yrs, very effective method.
