The Greater Niagara Fishing Expo coming up this February 13-16, 2025 will again host the highly acclaimed LOTSA (Lake Ontario Trout & Salmon Association) Salmon School. The School will offer those Lake Ontario anglers who love catching Kings, the opportunity to continue to improve their skills in advance of the 2025 season. For the past 14 years, LOTSA has offered this event which has sold out every year. Many attendees come back year after year because they understand that increasing their skills each year gives them the best chance to be more successful catching Kings the upcoming year. Even though the School is over 3 months away, over 50 % of the seats are already sold! There is no other education source that provides anything close to this opportunity! For those that attended in 2024, the value of the “Captains Bag” that each attendee received with the instructors “go to” baits alone exceeded the ticket price for the School! Not to mention the over $6,000 in door prizes that attendees left with in addition to the food stations and drinks on Friday, Hot Buffet on Saturday, Four day pass to the Greater Niagara Fishing Expo to see and buy from the top Exhibitors of Lake Ontario gear and a free LOTSA membership! All in a comfortable facility on a weekend in February surrounded by anglers who have the same passion for fishing Kings that you do! This is a unique “Custom” offering which is specifically built to cover the Salmon Fishing questions and topics that were submitted by each attendee when they registered. It is not an “off the shelf” offering that may or may not cover what each attendee requires. The instructors will use this input plus add what they think is most important to create a custom offering just for the 2025 School. The value of this can be seen in some of the catches by our 2024 Salmon School attendees who caught the 2024 Grand Prize Salmon in both the Spring and Summer LOC Derbies along with the first place Summer LOC Derby Salmon! Capt. Pete Alex (Lake Ontario west end and north shore), Capt. Rob Westcott (Lake Ontario central & west ends) and Capt. Casey Prisco (Lake Ontario east & west ends) are the instructors for the 2025 School. New for this year will be a guest Instructor (Captain Roy Letcher). Roy will provide a presentation on his specialty and what he is well known around the lake for, catching some of the biggest Kings caught in the lake year after year. The school again will be targeted for the experienced Lake Ontario Salmon Angler. Pete, Rob and Casey will provide a thorough walkthrough of each of their most important skills including the mental component Before, During and After their time on the water; along with the specific tools and techniques they utilize to make them consistently successful chasing Kings. The focus will be on the 3 main (open lake) Lake Ontario Salmon fishing periods (May, June/July, and August) and dive into the more technical aspects for each of these months relating to location, the "right" water, deep-water King tactics, locating and catching offshore Kings and on fishing "meat" among many other tactics. A significant amount of time will be spent on how each of them maximize the use of their Electronics to consistently be successful. Included throughout the day will be detailed video footage that will facilitate the learning process. Click here for more details and to register LOTSA Salmon School | Greater Niagara Fishing Expo

Since mid-September when the LOTSA Salmon School was announced, over 50% of the seats are already taken. After running this School for the past 13 years, we can guarantee that what you learn at the school will put a few more kings in your boat in 2024 like this over 30lb one caught this August by one of our instructors, Casey Prisco. LOTSA is proud to announce that registrations are now open for our Salmon School. This highly acclaimed school, now in its 14th year, has become the premier Salmon School anywhere in the Great Lakes. What started out as a local event now attracts many diehard salmon anglers from around the Great Lakes and Canada attending. The School, coupled with all the trout and salmon exhibitors at the Greater Niagara Fishing Expo (February 15 - 18), makes this a "must attend" winter event for many. Capt. Pete Alex (Lake Ontario west end and north shore), Capt. Rob Westcott (Lake Ontario central & west ends) and Capt. Casey Prisco (Lake Ontario east & west ends) have been selected to be the main instructors for the 2024 School. The School again will be targeted for the experienced Lake Ontario Salmon Fisherman as Pete, Rob and Casey will do a "deep dive" into the specific tools and techniques they utilize to make them consistently successful chasing Kings. If you are looking to increase your knowledge on how to catch trophy Kings like this 33lb beauty that Casey caught in early September, consider signing up for the Salmon School soon as it has sold out every year and we expect again to sell out quickly. There are less than 20 seats remaining for the LOTSA Salmon School. There is no better way in the offseason to improve your catch of Lake Ontario Kings than by attending the School. If you and your fishing partners are considering it, do not wait long to grab seats. Its only offered once a year and it closes as soon as the last seat is taken. The School has sold out for the past 12 years as many of the attendees come back year after year - which is the ultimate testimony to the value of attending the School. It is hands down the best Salmon School on all the Great Lakes as well as a huge 4-day tackle festival at the Expo! The 8th annual Greater Niagara Fishing & Outdoor Expo, set to be held at the Conference and Event Center Niagara Falls on February 19-21, has announced that it will cancel the event for 2021 and start planning for 2022 due to COVID-19.Because of the rescheduling, Expo coordinators felt that it was a good time to shift into a February time frame (2/17 - 2/20) from the normal mid-January date when the show has run in the past. In addition, another day has been added to the show, giving it 4 days for everyone to enjoy all of the fishing education this “Teaching Fishing” show offers. The LOTSA Salmon School will also be back, bigger and better than ever, and is scheduled for Saturday February 19, 2022. The date change to February is a result of many requests to move the show closer to the Spring Fishing season. This should allow more people to attend, increase sales for the Exhibitors and deliver more fishing education. It also removes any conflicts with the NFL playoffs (think Bills playing on the Saturday of the show in January) and hopefully provides better weather. The show has experienced some of the worst winter weather of the year in each of it 7 years so hopefully the February date will bring better weather. Greater Niagara Fishing Show Free Seminars
NiagaraFishingShow posted a topic in Open Lake Discussion
The preliminary schedule for the Open Lake Trout & Salmon Fishing seminars consisting of over 35 free seminars during the show (January 17 - 19) is now available on the show web site under the Education tab at www.niagarafishingexpo.com -
About 6 weeks remain before the opening of the Greater Niagara Fishing & Outdoor Expo on January 17th at 1 pm. This show is known as the "Teaching Fishing" which is what makes it unique from other events of this kind. The show facility - the Conference and Event Center Niagara Falls - provides a unique blend of being able to offer a spacious Exhibitor Event Center, as well as a multitude of seminar rooms all utilizing "State of the Art" technology. The show utilizes these rooms plus the Hawg Trough to deliver up to 18 classes run concurrently, each targeting different topics/levels of expertise. The classes are taught by local and regional experts very knowledgeable in fishing the Western and Central NY waterways. New for this year, each class will be developed for a specific level of expertise including: 1. Beginner / Casual Level - The angler who is just starting out or who has limited knowledge on the topic. Attending these classes will dramatically shorten the learning curve and provide the opportunity for attendees to save some "Tackle $$" by purchasing what is needed to get started. 2. Experienced Level - The angler with some experience on the topic who is looking to pick up additional knowledge from more experienced anglers that will enable them to make tweaks to their program to increase their success. 3. Expert / Tournament Angler - The "diehard" angler who is looking to increase their knowledge and skills on the topic by taking "advanced" classes taught by some of the best of the best anglers on the water. The 2020 show will offer attendees the opportunity to attend over 200 free classes over the 3 days of the show. The 2019 show saw attendees taking the opportunity to increase their fishing knowledge by attending on average over 5 classes during the duration of the Expo. The core belief of the show is that it is making a difference toward the effort to grow the sport of fishing by providing a vast amount of fishing education to our attendees. By providing this education, this show will recruit new anglers, including the next generation, to the sport as well as providing existing anglers the fishing knowledge to increase their enjoyment of the time they spend on the water by being more successful. The education also allows anglers to diversify to include other species and tactics if they so desire. The 2020 curriculum of all free classes is guaranteed to improve your skills. The curriculum includes classes on the following: 1. Lake Ontario Trout & Salmon 2. Lake Erie & Inland Lake Walleye 3. Lake Erie, Ontario & Inland Lakes Bass 4. Lake Ontario & Erie Tributary Trout 5. Lake Erie & Inland Lakes Perch 6. Marine Electronics & Boat Rigging 7. Kayak Fishing 8. Fly Fishing 9. Casting Techniques 10. Youth Fishing 11. Fisheries Management / General Fishing The full schedules will be available at www.niagarafishingexpo.com beginning the middle of December.

Greater Niagara Fishing Show - DEC

The Greater Niagara Fishing and Outdoor Expo is proud to announce that the State’ Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will be increasing their participation in the 2020 Greater Niagara Fishing and Outdoor Expo this coming January 17 – 19, 2020. Anglers who fish in New York's Great Lakes and inland waters would like to have more interaction with the decision-makers and the biologists who manage these waterways. The same could be said for those same decision-makers and biologists. They would like to have more interaction with the stakeholders and users of the resources to help the public understand those management practices. They would also like to receive more input from the anglers themselves to help with their management decisions going forward. The most exciting aspect of this DEC expansion is a unique "Open House" that will have subject matter experts from different aspects of the Bureau of Fisheries in one large room for three hours on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Included in this will be stations focusing on Lake Ontario Open Lake and Tributaries; Lake Erie Open Lake and Tributaries; Niagara River; Great Lakes Fish Production and Stocking; Finger Lakes; Inland Streams; DEC Law Enforcement; and Angling Opportunities for Women. This will provide attendees the opportunity to walk in whenever it is convenient for them and talk with the experts’ 1 on 1 in a very casual setting. In addition, each winter and spring, DEC conducts State of the Lake meetings to initiate public outreach and give updates on what's happening with a particular body of water - Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, Salmon River, Finger Lakes. They are often at a time when many anglers cannot attend. This Show is a perfect opportunity for anglers to see what's happening with the bodies of water you fish and ask questions to better understand the dynamics for a particular lake, river or inland stream. Abbreviated versions (one hour) of the State of the Lake meetings for Erie and Ontario will be available on opening night (Friday). If you participate in the popular LOTSA Salmon School, many of the top fisheries decision-makers will be on hand to mingle with Salmon School attendees on Friday night after the “State of Lake Ontario” session for a special "Meet and Greet." It's a great way to get up close and personal with the likes of Steve Hurst, DEC's Chief of the Bureau of Fisheries, Steve LaPan, DEC's Great Lakes Section Head, Chris Legard, the Lake Ontario Unit Leader and Jason Robinson, the Lake Erie Unit Leader. Some of these same individuals will also be included with some of the top seminar speakers. Last year, Hurst became part of a seminar with Capt. Bob Songin and they complemented each other very well over the course of the presentation. They plan to expand those efforts this January. We have been working hard to put together the 2019 Salmon School which will be held on Saturday January 19th as part of the Greater Niagara Fishing & Outdoor Expo. We have three excellent Instructors who will provide their knowledge and insights on what makes them successful in catching Kings throughout the 6 hours of instruction. Based upon input from the surveys that were filled out at the end of the School, we have made the following enhancements for our 2019 School: You will have free admission to the Show for all 3 days Our hot buffet lunch will be feature Roast Beef instead of Turkey We will offer alternative meals for anyone with dietary needs We will have a free “Meet & Greet” session Friday at 7pm with the Instructors and some major Manufacturers who are supporting the School which will include drinks and snacks. The cost is the same and includes everything received last year (LOTSA membership, Goodie Bag, Hot Buffet lunch, etc) plus the above. Registrations have been open for the School for a month and we are already 50% full. If you are thinking of attending, please don’t wait long to make your decision to sign up as we expect to sell out even faster than we did last year (early December) which was our earliest ever. We turned away a significant number of individuals last year after we were full. Also, we will have the $69 room rate at the Sheraton again until they are sold out. You can check out the full show which is loaded with Trout & Salmon Exhibitors, along with signing up for the School and your hotel room at www.niagarafishingexpo.com.

There is no preregistration required for the free ones. However a few are noted that do require free tickets to be obtained from the sponsoring Booths.
