When using saws where are you targeting? Suspended fish over deep water and dropping straight down 20-25’ or more shallow along the shore with flatlines (no weight). Asking bc I use this method to catch big browns on my local reservoirs but I’ve always just trolled Cayuga. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Hey guys, had a quick question. I’m new to fishing Cayuga, I mainly fish local reservoirs and a ton on Lake Ontario. I’ve only fished Cayuga one time and was curious to know how the technique differs from trolling browns on Lake Ontario. On Lake Ontario we mix in tons of various colors with both stick baits and spoons. is Cayuga a more natural color approach?? Also depth (before the thermocline sets in) are most guys trolling shallow water in early spring like on Lake Ontario or is it fishing suspended fish over deeper water utilizing the riggers and segmented leadcore to get down a few feet??. Not looking for any GPS coordinates or specific spots. Just trying to shortened the curve a bit. My boat is completely rigged for all trolling applications. Just trying to get a few tips for Cayuga because it’s a bit closer for me then lake O, also I can fish it alone on my boat utilizing my autopilot minnkota. Thanks in advance for any info Mike G Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Hey guys, quick question...... was wondering how early most of you guys start hitting the big pond for browns. I can’t take the anticipation much longer to get back out there. I mainly fish Oswego and I’m planning to make my first trip up mid March, weather permitting of course. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Mike Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Gin clear water made the pick a little tougher this trip. Ended the day 8for8. Including a nice surprise 13LB laker. 12-15’ of water was where we found our fish. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Hi guys, looking for some thoughts or testimonials on using “ BIG JON” mini “deeper diver” divers, for Browns when pushing into slightly deeper water. I was told they work amazing, but that was from only one guy before I purchased them. I bought them Bc I was looking for a diver without all the bulk and bull of a traditional dipsy. Thanks in advance for any tips. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Made our first trip of the year out on lady o on 4/13. We saw a small of opportunity in the weather before the nasty weather that came in on sat. We ended the day going 14-17. The water was gin clear so an all natural presentation took all of our fish. Goby bay rats and jointed brown trout raps did the trick on the boards. Took a few good ones on stingers off the riggers. Can’t wait to get back up on the 28-29th. Safe fishing guys. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Tight lips

Last year was myself and my fishing partners first year ever fishing lake O. We basically applied our knowledge we learned from asking millions of questions on this page as well as following some of the charter captains YouTube channels (sounds funny) but it really helped the learning curve. This year we upped our learning by attending trolling schools and study reading material extensively. Our first year wasn’t bad, we caught Browns, kings and steelhead, but this year we are way more prepared. It’s pages like this that give guys like myself and avenue to learn and get a jump start on learning all that applies to this lake O trolling game. I’d never ask for gps coordinates as to where anyone found fish. But giving some info is really greatly appreciated, we are all fisherman here all trying to have a little success as well as being safe on the water. Tight lines guys and be safe this season. Any really big disadvantage to using fixed trees???? I’m very interested and in the market for a pair of trees. Was going to buy a set of big jons( they are adjustable) was just wondering if the fixed trees are spaced adequately enough to run planners and still have a decent amount of space btw rods.
