Hi fellas, does anyone use a Seagate 60 for a 500 Copper (45#)? If so how much backing are you using and what lb weight? Apologize if this is a repeat but I couldn’t seem to find a reference for it.
Thanks!
Mike

Fantastic tutorial! Thank you very much for helping de-mystify this application. Back to the drawing board to re-visit adding copper sets!

Try the Alberto knot (Google the video). Very easy to tie, very strong, goes thru eyes no problem

Another fan of the Alberto Knot! Stupid simple to tie and brutally strong! Best of all it slips through your guides with ease! [emoji2]

Just checked out that link and I see what you mean as far as trim tab clearance. This mount will Def not work in my case. I see that Panther makes a fixed mount for 4 Stroke kickers for up to 35 hp that appears to have a decent amount of set back. Perhaps that would be the better option to clear my tab.
Thanks

Thanks CK! That looks quite solid. I in fact, an going with the same motor T9.9 Long Shaft. The link for the mount shows it has a 13” set back which I would think would work for my 21’ Hydrasports WA with a straight transom. My only potential issue is being able to clear my trim Tab. Did you also install the mount with a backer plate as well?
Thanks

Looking at the possible options available from Panther to mount a 9.9 hp 4 Stroke Kicker Motor. Anyone have/use them? Opinions?
Thanks-Mike

Just to be clear Todd, I use the #12 Sufix 832 ONLY for rowboat trolling for Browns. On Lake O, #27 Stealthcore All the way but use the same Alberto knot to join the LC to the Braid backer and also the Fluoro leader on the other end. The knot has held up good on angry Kings!

I use the #12 only for trolling the NYC DEP Reservoirs. Good stuff, very durable. I usually get at least 3 seasons out of a core!

By the way, I use the same knot when I make up my various lengths of leadcore set ups and join Stealthcore segments to braid backer again, after removing 4-6” of lead from the sheath!

No lead removed on the Alberto knot I see.

Yes, I should have mentioned that in the video the author is using regular braid. For our needs, The LC sheath with the lead removed handles the same way as regular braid when tying the knot. Sorry for the omission. I use 12lb 832 LC exclusively for trolling the reservoirs where I live and use the Alberto knot to tie in 10lb fluoro leader. Have never had the knot fail! Give it a try! I use the Alberto Knot to join Suffix 832 LC to fluoro leader. Remove about 6” of lead and then use the LC sheath to tie the knot onto the fluoro. Strongest knot I’ve used and hasn’t failed. It is also very low profile and glides through the rod guides!
Good luck !

Ok thanks Chief, what I figured! Lol! Going to be nothing short of a Chinese Firedrill for me the first time I (hopefully) hook a salmon and want to try to eliminate as many train wrecks as possible until I get some experience! Appreciate the advice!

Is it safe to run a copper in the chute while running Dipsy's on the side and riggers as well? Or is this asking for tangle troubles when say, you're fighting a fish on a Dipsy in the center of the boat? Best to reel in the copper first?
Thanks!

Hi Guys, just got a boat I'm setting up! [emoji2] I bought a pair of Digitroll-10's and would like some advice on a good battery to use to run them that have a decent lifespan. It will be connected to an on-board charger and maintained. Thank you VERY much for any help!

Thanks Gentmemen, for your insight! So tempted to pull the trigger! As you mention Tyee, the jig function looks terrific as does the positive ion control!

About to purchase my first set of new DR's in 15 years. REALLY like the sounds of the Digi-Troll 10's and the bottom track feature. Concerned about the negative feedback on transducer issues however with this feature. Those of you who use the Digi-Troll 10 with the bottom track, was it worth going this route or in hindsight would you have opted for a different model/make DR?
Thank you!

Anyone have any experience with this brand of Copper line? I was given a Spool of 30lb x 300' and wondering what approximate depth I can expect to run this line at?
Thanks for the help!
