Give me a date and I’d be willing to take a vet or 2 fishing for a day. Would be my pleasure. I’m no charter captain but I’m sure if the fish are willing we could pull a few over the gunnels. I’m in. [emoji14] Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
Ps. 1oz of lead will be about 7 feet down at 2.0 mph. With a light spoon. At 3.0 mph it’s only about 4 to 5 feet down. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
When I’m trolling for Browns in the short water with braided line I use a 1oz. Weight between the braid and floro leader, then my spoon. For stick baits on braid I don’t use any weight in the short water. But u do use floro leaders. My leaders are 1 rod length. For Browns and walleye I use 12lbs For coho and steelhead I use 20lbs. For kings I’ll use 30lbs. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
I would have I professional look at it and follow his recommendations. You don’t want to be 14 miles from port when something catastrophic happens. Ask his opinion on what you can do to it to get you through the season. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
That could be the onboard charger? Most of them use a little energy to monitor your battery condition. I would unhook it and see if you still gat a spark. With your perch off you shouldn’t get a spark. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
I’ve run inlines out to 150’ or so when I’m the only one out there never in traffic. That’s just being a Jack azz. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
im no electrician but you should never see sparks unless you are bleeding energy somewhere. if your perco is off you should not be drawing any energy. I would run a meter between my ground wire and my ground and try and see what voltage im pulling or how many MA im drawing..
I like the cheaters. when I fish its usually only 2 or 3 of us in the boat and I like as many lines in the water as I can get. a down rigger with a cheater is considered 1 line.
I was up there on the 5th. We did well on orange and burnt orange stick baits. 50 to 100 back 75 to 125 out on boards. We fished the green water, 9 to 18 FOW. We went east out to the ladders then turned west and fished to the campground. We went 7 for 12. A couple of nice Browns in the 8 to 11 pound range. Our riggers were down 5 and back 100. Couldn’t get a hit on spoons. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

I would love to but im afraid that I would have to re winterize before I get home. Its been really cold here at night in Elk Co Pa. I could bring my small boat but id probably get blown off the lake.
