  1. I agree. Saw at least 3x the amount of bait on Seneca this weekend than what I've been seeing on Cayuga. Tremendous amount of bait, I guess no need bother with our lures.
  2. Congrats, sounds like a beauty. I'm curious what other good size fish came in.
  3. I snapped this pic when I was down there. Congrats to the all the winners! Had a blast, worked hard through the weather just couldn't connect with anything over 6, landed 19 (browns, LL, lakers).
  4. As far as I know, you can be on the board in 2 different divisions. Before getting beat, I was on the board for a laker and a brown at the same time, last year.
  5. Ok, gotcha. Thanks very much guys.
  6. Any tips on trolling speed for the shallow bite for browns?
  7. Thanks very much, this makes a heck of a lot of sense. I appreciate the info.
  8. A med-lite spinning setup with a 3 way swivel rig and a small torpedo weight works great, all year around.
  9. I know there's a derby on Canandaigua that weekend.
  10. Gotcha, thanks. I just setup my first lead core rod/reel last week and been experimenting with leader lengths. I've seen guys using up to 30 ft. sometimes, which seems extensive.
  11. kayslay, how long of a fluoro leader do you use for that lead core setup?
  12. I was really all over the place depth wise and catching them at a lot of different depths, but I think the 80 - 140 fow zone may have been best. Generally my spoons were 45-65 down. I did catch a few in much deeper water (including the biggest one), and a couple in shallower too. The water temps are jumping around a lot right now, so I guess they are exploring different areas. I saw temps anywhere from 40 - 51 degrees, and everything in between. Good luck!
  13. The one salmon I got, 23" 3.65 pounds, was on the west side, in the crowbar area.
  14. Cayuga lake trout were partying and hungry on cinco de Mayo and the weather couldn't have been more perfect. Had an epic day, 19 lakers landed & 1 salmon. It's like going to the gym and getting a heck of a workout, strong fish. Largest fish of the day, a 29.75" 9.9 pound moose. All released except one to eat. Fish came mostly from the east shore, anywhere from a couple of miles south of Myers all the way up to the power plant. They were active and hungry. Good luck to all out there today!
  15. I saw 40.3 on Cayuga out in front of Taughannock on Monday, but a few miles north it was still 38-39. Should hopefully hit the 40s by sometime this week.
  16. Still available. Make me a reasonable offer! No shipping, will meet nearby Ithaca, NY
  17. Excellent electric motor for sale! Price is now $160 or $210 with deep cycle battery.
  18. I fished the same day, just north of Taughannock, trolled up almost to Sheldrake. Only landed 1 one laker around 3 pounds. Had 3 other runoffs, but they got off. Sharpening my hooks this week! I tried in shallow, 20-50 fow the first 3 hours, then went deeper 70-250 fow. Couldn't decide which was better. The fish seem fairly scattered lately. But they're out there!
  19. It'd be nice if they printed more info on mercury levels in trout & salmon comparatively to the other fish mentioned, and comparative info for each finger lake.
  20. Actually, they just updated the signs down there to February 28 - March 9. I backed down the ramp around 2:45 this afternoon and was about to launch when I realized they blocked off the entrance to get under the bridge. I was bummed, but glad things are getting fixed up. Luckily, I got out yesterday for a couple hrs and picked one nice 29" laker.
