  7. Got out with my 12 yr old nephew and my dad yesterday and again with the nephew today. Both mid morning-early afternoon trips. Six salmon, 3 small lakers, one small rainbow the first day. Best fish were a 5 1/4 lb and a 4 lb salmon. Today, started slow but then we got two on at once, one turned out to be a beauty 7 lb 27 3/4" rainbow, other a small laker. Half hr later another nice 4 lb rainbow. A few other small salmon and lakers, one other small bow and we let the nephew bring in almost all the fish. Had a ball. Best luck was between the scout camp and Kidders. All spoons, a bunch of colors were getting them, many depths 85 - 300 fow, 40-65 down. Fleas and weeds were annoying but we worked through it and the nephew was real happy. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Any idea what size the flt spoons are? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  9. There's very little online about eating fish with hab in affect. One would think if it was rinsed well after cleaning it could be ok. But I did find this link which says "Avoid eating fish caught from areas with a bloom". I'm probably gonna hold off. http://www.dec.ny.gov/docs/water_pdf/habsbrochure.pdf Hopefully they'll update the initial link I posted with additional info or an update again soon. I wonder if the cooler weather this week is doing some good.
  10. This page from the Cayuga Watershed Network has a bit more info... https://www.facebook.com/events/153457818563047/ It says HABs have been reported at the Village of Aurora swimming beach, Frontenac Park in Union Springs, and several other locations on both the east and west shorelines. But, yeah the DEC status says widespread/lakewide.
  11. Wow. Too funny!
  12. Yeah, it stinks to have to think about. My niece and nephew are visiting this coming weekend, and I was going to buy a small towable for some extra fun for them, but decided against it after seeing this. They'll have to stick to fishing, which luckily they love! Yeah I'd be curious to hear any folks thoughts about it.
  13. HABs Just curious everyone's approach with the widespread/lakewide HABs confirmed on Cayuga as of 7/18? Y'all still eating the fish? I usually catch & release most fish, and save one or two to eat here and there. So, I don't mind going 100% catch & release for awhile, but it's a shame to let fish weighed in at a derby go to waste. I know there's varying opinions on whether these HABs are a concern with eating fish, and it's a relatively new issue without much scientific info out there about that. http://www.dec.ny.gov/chemical/83310.html
  14. Thanks for the info, appreciate it. I'll definetly get in touch with them. Looking fwd to it!
  15. Just wondering what's the best way to get the sign up sheet and entry fee to Corey or Dylan? By mail? When's the deadline for entering?
  16. Had a slow start this morning, but ended up with 3 LL (one keeper) and 2 lakers (biggest 8.5 lbs) by lunchtime. Most hits nearby the boy scout camp and just north of there.
  17. My recommendation would be to consider starting further north, maybe at Taughannock. I haven't fished the last few days, but the last couple of times I got out, it was mostly weeds and murky water just about anywhere south of there. A week earlier, I was doing great just south of T-Falls, but then with the weather and weeds, things died down there, and I had much better luck a bit north of T-Falls and and even better a bit past the scout camp. Who knows though, it's in a constant state of flux out there. Good luck!
  18. Any idea what the dry weight of this boat is? w/out the motor.
  19. Fished the open box today, Kashong Pt. and down to Lodi. Only managed one 19" LL (w/lamprey), and one 3lb rainbow. No other hits for me. Conditions weren't ideal, after all the storms, but some guys did pretty well considering.
  20. Suttontroller94, hey yeah! You're right I met your father just before I launched that morning. Really nice guy, and enjoyed chatting with him for a minute, even though I was pretty out of it/just woke up from a 2 hour nap in the park there. I had a gig that Friday nite at the Boatyard Beer Garden in Romulus, and decided to go straight to the park from there. Did some casting for bass from 12:15-1:45am, then tied up, took quick nap in the car before meeting your dad and heading out to fish sunrise.
  21. I've got a late night gig Friday, but I'm thinking I just might make it out there to enter the open box event. Can always sleep some other time. Been looking to getting back over to Seneca! 333 concept is a neat one, I'll try for it next year.
  22. A cold brewski & bbq on a summer afternoon does sound pretty great.
  23. Hoping to enter this one. Just curious, why is the weigh-in so early in the day? Especially on a one day derby. Not very much time to fish, factoring in pulling the boat out, driving over.
  24. Thanks for the kind words, Sk8man. Great folks/community on this forum, and I've learned a lot on here. Giving thanks for that! Hope to meet some of you guys around one of the derbies or out on one of the lakes sometime. I'm considering joining the FLTA maybe next year, if it looks like my schedule will allow me to fish enough tournaments. After two full days on the lake, the brain is already thinking about the next run and ready to freshen up the tackle. Mike / cinnamon fish
